Why is autofill a thing srsly?

Like srsly why is it a thing below anything like masters? to shorten game times not really you save maybe 30 seconds at best at my elo P1 queue times are 3 mins not even long so why do we have auto fill enabled ? all it does is save maybe like a minute max since alot of people just dodge which wastes time anyways so its not like auto fill is saving time in that respect since that person now has to wait 5 mins to requeue so he didnt get any time saved form auto fill the the other people also have to wait in queue again so they haven't been saved any time by auto fill and if the game goes through then all that happens is one teams experience is severely hindered since now they have one person who is not as skilled at that role playing against someone who is much more experienced at said role and can impact it to a degree you cant so it literally does nothing for nobody just wastes time and game quality but considering riot games has no idea what they are doing I guess it makes sense auto fill is a thing all they know how to do lately is be greedier really sad how far riot has gone to keep their greed going while not fixing blatant issues with the game .

How are you confident about how much time is saved?

I remember sometimes waiting in Teambuilder for 30+ minutes for roles like top or mid.

No. This is not how it works. You need autofill with role selection because the least queued role will back queues up more and more and more to the point where the only limiting factor is people dropping out of queue

Autofill is not that common, most people pretend the 2nd role they queued is autofill.

Because Riot thinks people will quit if they wait too long. And long queue times don't really happen until high plat/low diamond. As a system, it's also pretty flawed. Had too many games where I get autofilled and the person who got my role was autofilled and we swap.

It's like every week someone asks this question again.

You need autofill, no, without autofill you wont just wait an extra minute, you'll inflate wait times by a lot more.

Support player shortage will create a bottleneck that will increase wait times as more and more players wait for supports to fill their lobby, it happened in team builder, it will happen here.

And lets not pretend people dont feed their ass off on their main role anyway, having no autofill wont gurantee you the best players on your team, you'll still get people using champs they have no idea how to use, people fucking around on their main, people just being bad. My worst feeders are ALWAYS those one trick mains who think they are some hot shots and always go in no matter what and flame their team. Meanwhile my autofill supports plays safe and cautionely because he doesnt have the confidence to try to make plays.

Autofill is not optimal, but it's the best solution for both quick wait times and reasonable games.
