Riot gutted Akali completely as they planned to give her power later on so they knew what direction exactly they wanted to take with her. They buffed her in 9.5 but this clearly not enough shown by her 42.62% winrate in mid and 47.25% in top. In 9.6 there are no planned changes for Akali. All the same could also be said for Aatrox.

Her design as always been too toxic to the game. Too safe, too much damage, too much mobility. Riot needs to make less champions that can chain kill because of (low CD, No Resources, insane healing from attacking while doing TONS of damage)
Honestly, Riven, Yasuo, and Sylas are so fcking broken right now that I wouldn't even mind if they just reverted Akali to her un-nerfed rework so that we have a little bit more options to pick so that its actually possible to win games.
Idk why riot thought taking the heal away would heal her in the long run and they keep buffing her damage and her damage is already good, but now she runs out of energy fast, takes way to much damage and with leblanc in the game there is basically no reason to play her since leblanc can do everything but more safe and is way more reliable.
You can thank your boy certainlyT for her being the way she is. He wanted to be **"innovative" ** So he gave her shroud a completely broken mechanic that made fighting against her close to 100% unfair especially if you're ganking.
If they just let you reveal her in shroud or see her move with a 
then she would have been fine, and nerfs would not have been needed.
