Mordekaiser + shield-rune

How does Mordes passive work with the 5% shield and heal-rune interact?

Morde gets a shields depending on his passive shield. However his passive shield allways gets damage first, so the 5% bonus shield will go away, when your passive shield is broken.

Maybe somebody could check it.
