I still hate new champ select

Why does it take so much longer to get into a game now. And why do they force you to lock in a champ. People have been playing this game for years a certain way, it is extremely difficult for people to get out of the habit of just picking a champ and letting it time out.

Seems like a bad design choice, a few days ago, it took me over 20 minutes to get into a game, and today is no better, still not in.
