What happened to ranked queue?

I have mainly been playing solo ranked this season, but I have a ton of friends that are lower ranked that I play ranked 5s with, and we have a ton of fun. So, apparently I can't play with them anymore, because I am too high rank? WTF is this crap? Why is Riot making it so I can't play with my friends?
