What is Riot's plan about Ashe, now that Kalista exists?

Kalista and Ashe are very similar champions. They both do the same thing, but the problem is that Kalista does everything Ashe does better, and more too, which renders the latter utterly useless purely by design.

Ashe's Q, designed to help her kite and stick to targets, is the same as... Kalista's passive, but Kalista is just better at it by being much more mobile + she can slow whenever she wants to stick even more on her target.

Ashe's E grants vision from far away on a long CD, but temporarily. Kalista once again does the same on her W, but better, lasting longer and being available more often. Both champions also get a passive on this ability. Ashe gets gold... alright, I guess, but when you compare it to Kalista's... the lane utility + bonus damage it provides makes it again a better skill to have. Maybe if you count Ashe's passive for the bonus damage? Ah!...

Ashe's W is surpassed by far by Kalista's E and Q. It's an AOE + a slow once you get a level in Q, which is nice. It can only deal one instant of damage to a target, though. Kalista's under the right situation can also add more damage to a second target (and even one shot someone! alright, that very situational) thanks to her Q. Now, you just need to add the utility Kalista provides to secure Dragon and Baron with her E, and Ashe is just laying in a corner, crying.

Ashe's R is fun, it has higher range than Kalista's R, and damage too! It's a single-target stun with a duration depending on distance (you rarely get the max duration), and an AOE slow. So, tenacity and QSS works on it. Meanwhile... Kalista's R is a knock-up (for 2s at max level). Bonus, it saves people too and allow them to reposition where they want to turn a fight around (I will not take into account that it requires better communication, since I'm just talking about design).

So, now that Kalista exists in this game, what is going to happen with Ashe?

Want to play Ashe? Don't. Pick Kalista. (Riot's unofficial answer)

Honestly? Ashe needs a rework, not only to remain viable, but to be able to be level with the other ADC's. Her passive is basically worthless if you think about it.An ADC is usually AAing everything in sight, giving no chance for the passive to charge up thus making it useless. While a crit is useful,a regular ADC build path usually involves a crit item and again, reduces the usefulness of Ashe's passive. Her Q is okay with the slow making her useful for kiting but with so many ADC's having some sort of dash or movement ability, the usefulness is reduced. Her W is a nice source of damage and it also slows.I think this ability is fine(maybe tinker with the AD scaling on it). Her E provides utility and a source of gold income but the long CD of it makes it a bit....clunky.However,the +3 gold per cs makes it worth it over time. Her Ult gives nice damage but its mostly utility that it provides for a team fight. It scales with AP and is a cheap version of Jinx's ult.Potentially,it could stun an entire team but usually is used to slow(in lane at least) the opposing ADC to give you time to kill them.In my opinion, she needs a new passive(maybe something that stacks like a Statikk Shiv?) and maybe a movement ability(Maybe her E moves her back?)

Ashe is still good. The only thing holding her back from competitive play is effective use of item 3222.

In solo queue, you can play her in any elo and have a winning expectation.
