Two Different Types of Champions in League
Hello! I'm an aspiring Game Designer and I've been talking to some friends about how there are really only two types of champions in League of Legends.
The first type of champion puts all of the pressure on the player and mistakes, more often than not, are extremely punishable by the opponent. For example, Camille has to play almost perfectly in order to find high levels of success. Her mistakes are far easier to punish and leave her much more vulnerable than some other champions in the game.
The second type of champion are those thay place all the pressure on their enemy. Usually lane bullies such as Darius or Illaoi. Playing against these champions is much harder than playing as them, and so it creates a ton of tension in the lane that can often seem overwhelming.
I'm not saying either of these types are better or worse than the other, as everyone has their own tastes. It is just an interesting observation I made a couple of days ago when I got destroyed by an Illaoi in toplane due to my failures to dodge her abilities. I think giving some champions the ability to outplay and keeping other champions simple but powerful is great in a game and I look forward to seeing just how far the Desigbers at League can take the concept!
Feel free to add to the discussion!! This is more of an abstract concept and so I'm not exactly sure what questions to ask about it, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any ideas you guys might have!
