Challenging Smite & Devourer Balance Suggestions

Challenging Smite currently gives too much damage to champions that can proc on hit effects very quickly coughWarwickcough, while being much less useful on those that can't. I suggest making it an on hit DoT. That way the damage is normalized so that it's useful on anyone who takes it without being overwhelming on anyone either.

My second suggestion is that you lower the base damage on Devourer to 25. It gives 20% more attack speed than the Feral Flare did, and it doesn't need to be stacked 30 times to damage champions. Combined with the extra stack on assist and kills, it stacks much quicker than the old Feral Flare. Lowering the base damage to 25 would still be a huge improvement over last season for the junglers who take it without the out of control snowballing that the item currently gives.

If what I see is correct, challenging smite only deals 18-69 true damage per hit. That's from levels 1-18. That doesn't look like a whole heck of a lot, even WW ult can only stack it five times for 345. Pretty good damage, but really only scary if you're squishy, in which case, you shouldn't let WW get into ult range.

But hey, I'm still holding out and hoping this latest QQ over him will get Riot to try and speed up his rework some, been pretty excited to see him get some more unique gameplay other than R.

It's more a Warwick problem than a challenging smite problem. His ultimate simply synergizes insanely well with it. There is no other champions who can (ab)use it like that. The opportunity costs for picking it are really high.

just another thread made by squishy champs about how a champ with a new item destroys them with his ult even tho they build no defenses of any kind

hopefully they speed up warwick rework instead of straight nerfing him and leaving him to rot for longer, hes been in a pretty bad spot since the jungle changes and mana nerfs he got in early S2.

The combo is actually nasty on anyone, did a jungle Twitch game with that combo and I could straight up assassinate people just from the sheer on hit damage I had from smite and devourer, coupled with actual damage it was scary

Glad that you search the problewm with Devourer, not with WW.

Becasue WW ult has always been nuts with on hit Items (Wit's End, Nashors Tooth, Feral Flare, BorK...)

Devourer is just too much, too early and scaling even further. Any AA based champ should swap Ignite/Exhaust for Smite now just to get it.

Mmm, I wouldn't lower the amount of magic damage. Old Feral flare would typically have that many stacks with 2250 jungle gold iirc. The damage over time change is very good though, means WW can pick other stuff. Personally I am fond of chilling smite though Challenging smite still remains a good pick.
