What's Wrong With League These Days

You know what's wrong with this game? You guys focus so much on teamwork, you focus on how we need to work together and have been slowly getting rid of solo carries. But when someone flat out admits that they were trolling in chat, when they make a team who spent 55 minutes giving it their all lose because they think it's funny you do nothing. I am so fucking tired of people getting away with intentionally throwing games and you guys pretend like it's nothing. If it's a team game then you need to make it a team atmosphere and punish people who ruin it. I'm honestly fucking tired of it. It has turned me into a toxic player because of how often it happens and how you guys don't do a damn thing to stop it.

Well riot will ban a toxic person way before they ban an intentional feeder.. pretty dumb.

Honestly I wouldn't mind the "one player can carry the whole team" possibility if League just had better fucking matchmaking.

During the assassin meta where a good mid or ADC meant you win, my games were just "who got the plat/diamond player in a carry position?"

Now that it's really all about teamwork it's "who gets the troll/player too immature to be playing a multiplayer video game" and they lose.

You just can't win, but I would put purposefully throwing games as deserving of far more severe punishment than people who are just toxic and unsportsmanlike.

If only there was some system in place that took reports from players and evaluated them and dispensed punishments based on the action if the report was valid. Maybe like an automated system that that examines the reported player's game and determines if action needs to be taken. Too bad there is absolutely nothing like that.

Couldn't agree more. Now this is from my own experience, so I can't hold it over the entire community, but I think it's pretty accurate consider the bitching on the boards. I would say about 90% of the time I see someone raging can be attributed to 3 things:

  1. Last pick troll locked in a lane already taken and then proceeds to troll the entire game because they didn't get their way
  2. Someone runs down lane as Lulu going 0-12 and building Zz to "distract the enemy team"
  3. A player playing a champ that they literally have 0 games with and doing horrid the whole game. Not intentionally feeding, but still ending 0-10-2.

Again, there are obviously 12 year old call of duty players that spam "nigger" and "cunt" the whole game, and they should be punished accordingly. But these things account for most of the toxicity that I personally see in the game. Some suggestions include:

  1. If a player does this, ban them from ranked for 2 weeks on first offense, permaban them from ranked on second offense.
  2. If a player does this, ban them from rnaked for 2 weeks, on first offense, permaban them from ranked on second offense.
  3. This is the hardest one to regulate. One idea that I have to simply make it so you have to have played a certain number of games with a champ in order to play them in ranked. I see no harm whatsoever to this idea, only good.

I honestly believe if they adjusted just these things, the toxicity of the games, and the community in general, would go way down. I mean, look how long they have been banning players for toxic language. Has the game gotten any better? No. In fact, I see a lot of players complaining that it is getting worse. Probably because there is more of this unpunished behavior going on. Now, I'm not saying it is right to call someone an idiot for doing one of these things (thought they are), but it is going to happen. I see it happen. And honestly, as someone in the game watching a situation take place, I am more likely to report the person doing one of these trolling things than the person that is "being toxic", because I think the cause is much more toxic than the reaction. The same player goes through trolling and gets multiple people banned for "verbal abuse", which is why you don't see a decrease in the toxicity of the community. By punishing that 1 single player, you could help to avoid reactions by many players.

Sometimes I wonder if people know the difference between "intentional feeding" and "unskilled player." You'd be surprised how many times I've seen my teammates type in all chat "Report Soraka(Or whatever champion) for intentionally feeding." when I gave it my all the entire game.

Pheonixwish5/30/2015, 2:10:02 AM1 votes

Honestly, I just let everything play out and the guy feeding either turns out to be:

-having a horrible game -insanely upset about God knows what

In both cases I can never bring myself to rage at them, and chat with them as if they were a regular teammate. It's much easier for everyone and lessens the burden you have to carry.

If i ever play league at all these days I intentionally throw in ranked, cuz league sucks

Riot has to design a game where 90% of the playerbase doesn't play it very well, but anything slightly powerful at high levels of play gets ruthlessly abused. No idea why they think pure teamwork champs can fit into that Bard . Half the time you're lucky just to get your team to group in low elo.

Dear Riot,

Please nerf Free Will. Too OP.

Seriously, they can get banned but guess what? That takes time. They're not going to get banned IN THE GAME that you're currently playing with them.

They're not going to tell you "GOOD JOB BRO! You totally got that ass hat banned!" So even if they're doing something about it you won't really know but you will still bitch about it... cause ur bitter.

Chill ur happy ass out, report the prick and move on. No one is responsible for you becoming toxic but you because NO ONE is responsible for your actions EXCEPT YOU.

Yormaughm5/30/2015, 5:36:07 PM1 votes

I'm not sure the OP is actually complaining about "intentional feeding" in the traditional sense.

Nowhere did he say "when you report people for intentionally feeding they don't get in trouble for it." Although elements of that may exist behind the scenes.

But I know I've been in a few games, and watched people stream games where the trolls are too smart to ever get banned based on a cursory overview of their performance and chat logs, yet they still throw the game on purpose by purposefully avoiding teamwork and doing things to hamper their team. This to me is the most abhorrent behavior possible.

The guy who for some reason gets salty, and just decides to do things like just set up camp in the jungle, steal his team's CS, and last hit buffs away from his own teammates. Oh and of course he makes sure to run away at the slightest hint of a team fight. Sometimes these guys will even end with positive KDA numbers, so it makes no sense to report them for "intentionally feeding" what they're really doing is "intentionally not-participating" which as the OP suggested, loses games because the game is structured around teamwork being necessary to win (nothing wrong with that btw.) In the cases where this happens to me I report them for "Griefing: Assisting Enemy Team" and then try to explain what they did in the description box. The problem is, they're not actively assisting the enemy team, but they are actively not assisting their own team. Unfortunately there's not a more accurate report category for people who actively refuse to participate in the game, but it's definitely a situation that's gotten worse over time and it's bullshit.

Sounds like your tired of losing.

P.S: Its a game, people threaten to report me when we lose because they need to blame something or someone for mistakes. But yet they still have much to learn. You will also understand as well. Their is a reason why Platinum people are more patient and respectful then a Bronze Player

ApolloMk25/31/2015, 2:55:56 AM1 votes

Yup! This will be why I stop playing league entirely. Call someone gay, banned. Have a team mate spend literally the entire ranked game calling out your teams position so they can all come and kill you. And then spending all day diving their fountain to feed them more, NO PUNISHMENT.

Not condoning the "gay" remark, just furious at Riot for their logic. This week alone ive seen FIVE different people tell me "please, you know how many times ive been told enjoy your ban? i've never even been warned. get F**** b****". (Or something very close to that).

gd is public diary?

BluePolarizer5/30/2015, 2:01:37 AM1 votes

League is not designed for solo queue to be anything other than a pub. Diamond is a high level pub, but still a pub. That's why nobody in DOTA takes solo ranked seriously - its useless. You aren't getting paid for it so why get so serious? The only truly competitive game mode is challenger 5v5.
