Yi's ult

Hey so i was wondering can yi's ult allow him to run through a bards ult on top of him? i just finished a game where our yi ulted to chase down a low shaco into jg when the bard ulted him to save him and himself from yi. instead of stopping yi, bard gets ulted by himself and shaco still dies because the yi literally ran through bards ult. it was suppose to hit yi and bard at the same time due to placement. Both me and the yi were bugging out about it after the team fight.
