When I heard that riot was going to soft reset the tiers, I actually thought it would be a great idea. I mean, to me it sounded like a great way to refresh the tiers and divisions for the new 2015 season. But all I've seen since the seasons start is former Golds and Silvers that have been knocked down to Bronze D2 and D1. That is not a soft reset, that's a down right demotion. I actually went 6 out of 10 in my provisional's and went to Bronze 1. Because of the DEMOTION, the Bronze ranked matches are now just a chaotic mess full of disappointed players because of their now low ranking. I've actually considered ignoring rank until later in the season, hoping that the tier straightens itself out. Look RIOT, I appreciate the effort in tying to give a fresh start to the players; but cramming all the lower ELO's into bronze was a F***** terrible idea. I understand there is not much you can do know (or is there?) but for F*** sake put more thought into us in the lower tiers next time. (my apologies for the language)

I'd agree the start of this season is a pretty terrible mess, I'm waiting to even do my placements until a month or two from now in the hopes things work out a little better.

So far it seems less like "placing" players and just dropping them arbitrarily.

I actually agree. Soft reset did not do nothing for me. It just put me back at the bottom even when I did really well in my provisionals with little to no real duo partner. I would rather see it reset completely and then if people do good put them up there and if they fall after that, they just fall. But alot of people i have seen do awesome and end up way lower than deserved. That is the major depressing part of playing. To work so hard and end up at the bottom. I hope they fix this. It would be nice. If something is going to be reset. Then reset across the board. Give everyone a fresh start and don't just base it off last season. I stop playing at the end of the season cause i though the new season means fresh start, but i was so wrong. The only reason i play more rank now is because someone don't think i will make it out of bronze 5 so i plan to get father and way ahead of him when the season is done. RIOT FIX YOUR SYSTEM PLEASE.
