Need help on Shyvana?

Xãyah··2 votes·1,499 views

I'm a mastery 7 Shyvana. I obtained it at about 47k mastery points and I'm always looking for people to help. If you have any questions on her lore or what to build, just ask and I'll be sure to attempt to answer as many questions as I can. I realize I'm just a silver player and that my advice may not be the most reliable but I love Shyvana's kit and lore so I like to try multiple builds with her. I've tried some crazy things on her. Also, just because I'm silver and not as high as others such as plat or diamond doesn't make my own opinion any less valuable. We are all entitled to our own opinion and all I want to do is give friendly advice and help the community as much as I can.

What is your standard jungle build, your jungle build versus heavy AD, and your jungle build versus heavy AP?

Xãyah1 votes

On Shyvana, I like to rush enchantment bloodrazor for the sustain in jungle and for the attack speed. Frozen mallet is always a crucial piece to her because of the slow and her w giving movement speed, it becomes almost impossible for them to escape you. Heavy ad, enchantment bloodrazor, frozen mallet, dead mans plate, thornmail, and randuins to reduce crit. Heavy ap, the first two items are the same. Enchantment bloodrazor, frozen mallet, spirit visage, abyssal scepter, and whatever else. Heavy ap is another thing. There aren't as many mr items as there is armor. Of course don't forget boots in your build. You can get them wherever you want but ad-ninja tabi. Ap-mercury treads.

Thank you! Would you ever build Wit's End on her against AP, or does that item not give enough tank stats on her to be useful? Do you think that carry builds on Shyvana are too risky/not using her kit optimally? Would you ever build a Zz'Rot Portal on her? How about a Banner of Command?

Also, what is a good level to solo Dragon, assuming the map feels safe?

Xãyah1 votes

During laning phase, the jungler is THE most important person to kill. If they die, the map for a short period becomes completely yours so long as you know where the laners are. Wits end could be useful. I haven't tried it personally but Shyvana is a fighter so she needs tank and resistances. Zz'Rot I have never once considered building on her and that goes the same with Banner of Command. Shyvana does 10% increased damage to dragon so you could solo dragon at level 5 depending on if you have red buff and if you have pots. Level 6 is always a good point at when you want to solo dragon because you have a dash for an ult in case someone comes or if you need some extra health which you shouldn't at level 6. Make sure you have smite though otherwise they could steal it if they know you're doing it and in case you start it after killing some camps and have taken some damage. Smite is a must for pulling a solo drag at level 6.

Cool, thanks. That reminds me, now that we have the new Rift Herald, when do you advise soloing her (if at all)?

If you get ahead as Shyvana, would you ever consider a heavy damage build, or is the build not worth the risk? Do you have any specific jungle routes you like to go, or do they change game to game? What team compositions does Shyvana fit well in? Are there any specific enemies/enemy compositions that give her trouble?

Xãyah2 votes

I generally solo Rift Herald at level 8 or 9. That's usually when I have enchantment bloodrazor finished and giants belt so It's harder to die. If you do get ahead, bloodthirster is actually amazing on her. That's how I got mastery 7. My jungle route is red, krugs, wolves, gromp, blue, scuttle crab, raptors, krugs, then back assuming that you have not been damaged by an outside source other than your camps. Shyvana goes well with Yasuo because her ult counts as a knock up. She also does well with shen because if you do want to play aggressive and counterjungle, he can ult to you if needed. She has troubles with Lee sin as he can invade and escape via his ward hop. Tryndamere is also an issue as he can invade once he has ult and if you try to escape he has his e to compensate for your ult and his w to compensate for your w. He can easily win in a 1v1 fight as well so it's best to play it safe against a Tryndamere jungle and don't invade against him.

Don't solo rift herald.

Bork is better than bloodthirster since it gives her movespeed, move lifesteal, and on hit which she uses with her q.

You don't have trouble wint trynd since nobody plays trynd jungle.

Xãyah2 votes

Bork is interchangeable with bloodthirster. I also haven't used Bork on her which is my mistake and you'd be surprised how much Trynd jungle is played. Barely but it's played. I fought one a few days ago I think. Either way, even if he's top lane, he can go into your jungle and take camps or if he just finds you pushing a lane or clearing camps while you are invading.

Moooose31 votes

Don't solo rift herald it takes too much time, you'll take too much damage, you might die and give it to the enemy team, and you want the buff on one of your laners regardless.

No don't go full damage she's not worth being built that way. you can forgo another tank item for a bork if you're that ahead but besides that keep to tank. If you're squishy as shyv you're useless.

Full clear basically every time. Your clear is fantastic. Blue-gromp-wolves-raptors-red-golems. or red-krugs-raptors-wolves-blue-gromp.

Why are you giving advice in shiny bronze?

Xãyah1 votes

I'm not bronze if that's what you were implying.

Moooose31 votes

You're silver. Hence "shiny bronze" still shit

Xãyah1 votes

Ok, just because I'm silver doesn't mean I'm not good. Everyone has their good, bad, and amazing champs. Now please leave.

Moooose31 votes

No that's exactly what it means. If you're in silver with a 40% winrate in ranked, and a 29% winrate in flex, you're probably pretty bad. That's fine there's nothing wrong with not caring about ranked just saying maybe you shouldn't be giving advice since obviously due to your elo and comments I've read, you lack very common game knowledge.

Xãyah1 votes

Do I lack game knowledge? Yes, everybody does. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to Shyvana though. I also play flex with someone who I shouldn't be because he feeds quite a bit and It pisses me off. Solo, I played jungle warwick which isn't my best champ especially when I don't play him that often. Ranked also does not define how skilled someone is especially when at a certain champ because they could've played different champs. Now, please leave.

Moooose31 votes

What I'm saying though is that the advice you're giving is just wrong. I have 2 master accounts, one support, one jungle, and as a jungler your advice is just wrong in a lot of places. Not trying to flame just saying you're not optimizing how you're playing.

Xãyah1 votes

Well, then you better change your phrasing because it sure seems like you are trying to flame me for giving my own opinion of what to build. Also, if you think my jungle advice isn't good, then you should know I'm and adc main. I played Shyvana to mastery 7 before I committed myself to adc but due to the person who feeds a lot in flex (who I shouldn't play with), I'm forced into jungle sometimes. He knows only adc, mainly twitch. If he plays support, its heimerdinger. If I was a jungle main, then my knowledge of it would be far greater than what it is now.

When and how often do you counterjungle? Who do you avoid?

Xãyah1 votes

I personally don't counterjungle often as Shyvana early but if it's someone like Evelynn, nunu, and amumu, I'll counterjungle all the time but I always try to play it safe. Once laning phase has ended I like to get vision on the map. I ward enemy red or blue, take their camps if they're there and then either push lane, back, or help my team if they need it. If enemy bot or top lane is losing and has at least one tower missing, you can generally go to that part of the jungle without much worry especially when two towers are missing. I usually avoid Xin Zhao, Olaf, and Pantheon. Always be careful of your own jungle if the enemy jungler is Ivern or kindred because they will invade you and Ivern will always have a backup plan in case he gets caught such as a teammate collapsing on you.

Never getting Titanic?

Also, you play a very tanky-disrupter style Shyvana... you lose out on a lot of squishy bursting (and thus you are pretty bad at threatening the backline) without Titanic or Triforce.

BT is pretty bad, it gives decent damage but you don't scale off AD that well, besides onhit (aka Bork) actually gives more damage per individual auto than flat AD, and you don't use AD for anything other than autos and a bit of W scaling. The lifesteal is decent, but you're gonna have a hard time actually lifestealing a lot because most of your damage is from onhit, not actual auto attack damage.

Seems like your waveclear is pretty shit without a Tiamat item, or a Sunfire. W is good but it's not amazing... doesn't let you hard shove or take out a wave in an instant.

Xãyah1 votes

You can get Titanic on her and I do realize that Shyvana is an onhit such as frozen mallet and bork. Bork is actually better than bloodthirster yes, but I just replied with what got me to mastery 7 which in this case is bloodthirster. I didn't try bork which was a mistake. Triforce isn't as valuable as Titanic on Shyvana and you can get to the backline extremely easily with her ult and w. I do build tanky on her but she can have a wide variety of items in her build. I didn't cover it all because I either haven't built it or I just didn't take the time to type it. With her w, there is no need for titanic if you are focusing on hard shoving but again, she can build it and it's very useful. I honestly haven't tried it though. I build tank on her because the top laner I play with is a bit crazy. He brings whatever he wants top and builds however he wants so I'm almost forced to build tank on her.

RaiokuMoonscar1 votes

Sunfire Cape is a trap, don't build it unless you're top lane. otherwise ur better off getting Cinderhulk.

Rift herald hardly does dmg anymore so you can very easily solo it when it shows up.

If your going frozen mallet you should also go titanic hydra at least to boost your clearing/team fight/and burst. (just building frozen mallet is lacking like Cant Hold Me Now said) Shy works better with more attack spd and/or high burst dmg, both of which clear things quickly.

Xãyah1 votes

I'm aware of this. I rarely build sunfire on her. Read what I said to your other message. That should clear things up.

Pretty sure you didn't mention Sunfire so I wasn't explaining that to you in particular, but to Cant Hold Me Now.

But to focus on your point, all of the following for both Razor and Cinder

Mallet//boots/tank item/Titanic/tank item

Titanic/boots/3 tank items

Titanic/boots/tank item/Bork/tank item

Triforce/boots/tank item/Titanic/tank item

are quite tanky builds, with cinder variants being the tankier obviously while the other more dmg but still pretty tanky. As you said she has a good diversity of builds, but this proves true for both tank and dmg heavy builds.

to put it simply u can bring 2 dmg items in your builds if you'd like and still be very tanky. (titanic+hydra being that "tankiest" dmg/tank of the mix)

Xãyah1 votes

No, I didn't mention sunfire but I was just saying I rarely build it on her. Also, you want to capitalize on the attack speed that the jungle item gives. This is why I build enchantment bloodrazor over cinder. It does max health damage which helps at killing tanks or fighters.

Trust me I always build Bloodrazor, just saying the Cinderhulk option can be good as well, you can get plenty of attack spd without Razor. Runes and Masteries can net you 33% without sacrificing anything, so it's good when used in the correct games. You just don't want to go cinder when the enemy team has more than 1 tank (unless you plan to build BoRK which is fine as well).

I know what her kit does so no worries there, I'm well past 300k mastery points on her. BoRK and Bloodrazor are relatively the same when it comes to shredding Hp paired with Shyvana's E, reason both Cinder and Razor builds can work just fine over the other.

Xãyah1 votes

Runes and masteries are very important. Speaking of which, I was going to make a special mastery page for her. Anyways, I've been play a lot of adc. That's actually the role that I main but due to someone I play with only knowing one role (that being adc), I play jungle sometimes. I picked up Shyvana a long time ago. Probably was my first champ besides like Ashe and Garen. I stopped playing her for months but I picked her back up around one week before they nerfed her w.

RaiokuMoonscar1 votes

Ironically she is still in the top 10 these days in terms of junglers even with that nerf. Plus she still clears the fastest after a few lvls put into her W. (Best part she has the lowest ban rate :p)

Xãyah1 votes

She has one of the lowest ban rates. I believe its 0.6%. She's a mid tier jungler right now.

Eh she may not be S class but I will take her top of the board A class just fine. Would play her anyway if she ended up being lower at some point but yea that's just me.

Especially with Graves, Ivern, and Lee have recently been receiving nerfs, she has just been going up imo. Worldwide she is top 5 according to champion.gg but what I focus on is the good win rate. Although her play rate is still pretty low raising that win rate a bit, she counters a lot of the top tiers which is nice.

Xãyah1 votes

She is countered by many junglers though. Lee sin and Ivern are junglers that can invade her easily and set her behind. In my opinion, Shyvana is in a fantastic spot and doesn't need a nerf or a buff.

AshKetchup 1 votes

is she a good champion Shyvana

AshKetchup 1 votes

and what are some good combos with her as in like lanes who should she go with and what lane she whould go inShyvana Shyvana Shyvana Shyvana

Xãyah1 votes

She is a good champion if you know how to play her correctly. She's a jungler and her q is an auto attack reset so it can make for some good combos. If you want to pull off an insane combo get titanic hydra (I don't build this personally). You can auto, q, auto, e (also an auto attack reset), auto, titanic hydra active. However if you don't build titanic just try that combo without the titanic at the end.
