Why does corrupting potion exist?

item 2033 What even is the point of this item? It's meant to be a replacement for flask but it fails in every single possible way. Firstly it costs 500g. That's ALL of the starting gold spent right there. Can't also start with wards, or potions. Nothing. And it doesn't upgrade into anything. Starting with corrupting potion means you get +450 hp, +150 mana and a tiny bit of extra damage when trading. If you start with this item because you need more health regen, then it only becomes efficient after >10 charges. That's a long time. Thus, the only reason to buy it is if the champion is very mana hungry early. Even then, you're paying a big price for just 150 mana. Spam a bit less and you save 500g.

Why would anyone start with corrupting pot when the following starts are just better? AP: item 1056 item 2003 item 2003 item 1082 item 2003 item 2003 item 1001 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 AD: item 1055 item 2003 item 1036 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 1042 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 Tank: item 1029 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 item 1054 item 2003

Refillable potion item 2031 also sucks for laning.

I'm just sticking with buying potions as I need.

It's clear Riot hates the refilling mechanic because these are so undertuned it's not funny.

It's probably for champs without real mana costs who trade a lot (looking at you,MonkeyKing)

Probably because this item is actually a lifesaver for champions that don't have sustain via hp or mana especially since mana pots are now gone and hp pots are now more expensive and its super helpful for champions with weak laning phases such as Kassadin that need it too sustain against tough matchups. Those items you listed don't give enough sustain for champs that need it to survive the laning phase. If anything crystalline flask was a godsend for champs like Singed, Kassadin, Yorrick and many others that relied on it and now that mana pots are gone its gonna be even harded to survive agressive matchups more than ever.
