Uninstalling this game for the first time in 5 years (no joke) Peak rank: (Diamond 2 100 LP)

I'm not going to talk about the glory days that I've had with league and how I'd wish we could go back to them, rather, I'm just going to give bullet points as to how ruined it is right now.

  1. Damage is to high, you can't fight me on this, it's just to high, period, move on.

Solution? Dial back damage on everyone by 10-15% on all abilities/base stats and start from there.

  1. Towers and games are moving too quickly, there is no such thing as late game anymore, and the "live design team" state that this is intended because they don't want games to be too long in competitive. TO LONG FOR WHO? THE 500 PEOPLE THAT COME TO THE LCS STUDIO? WHO ARE YOU CATERING TO? You don't have 25,000 people filling a stadium every week, this is an online game that most people watch on there phones on the go, or on the computer.

Solution? Bring back 40-55 minute games where outplay potential requires you to think 10-14 seconds ahead in a team fight, not 2 seconds.

  1. Your "live design team", is a joke, a literal joke. Some of them don't even play the actual game. Some of them are ranked very low and don't understand damage potentials and what not, all they see are numbers on a spread sheet and who needs to be buffed/nerfed because a computer algorithm told them to. Also, Ghostcrawler is a joke.

Solution? Get new people to design your game, people who actually care about the game, not these headless chickens running around.

  1. Runes reforged pushed the game deeper into the hole of garbage. The entire system is unbalanceable or will take years to even start to see any balance of it. Stop watch is an abomination, who thought that it would be a good idea to give a free zhonyas active that can 100% turn the sway of a fight, or even give the ability to buy it out right? Resolve is a shit show in itself, you know why it's so overpowered in terms of sustain and durability? BECAUSE DAMAGE IS TO HIGH, who would of thought that insane sustain in lane would be needed when there's so much damage floating around?

Solution? Go back to the old Runes/Masteries, it was much healthier.

  1. RNG never needed to be introduced into this game farther than crit, zoe/dragon RNG/scuttle bull shit/fruit plants, that was all un needed.

Solution? Go back to fundamentals of season 1-3 where RNG was looked down upon and didn't need to be in the game, take it out.

  1. Stop giving everyone complex flashy kits, the community is tired of it, do you know why? Because we're sensitized from how much of it you've put in the game. When Zed was first released, he was absolutely insane to watch pull off a combo and jump around a team fight. Now? Almost everyone has insane crazy kits.

Solution? ease up on the insanity of kits, you don't need that, it makes your player base tired of flashy plays because they happen all the time now.

  1. This ties in with damage being to high, but wave clear is still an issue, and it's because damage is too high across the board. Anyone with AoE abilities can clear a wave fast, comparatively speaking from earlier seasons.

Solution? Same as solution for problem number 1, make lane management a thing again.

  1. Your little patch big patch cycles being a joke are a product of your idiotic design team.

Solution? Do 1 huge patch every 1 month, or 2 months, that addresses many things.

I don't know what else to list, but I don't care to put anymore thought into it, as the design team doesn't care either.

And no this isn't my main account if you're going to call me out that I'm not Diamond, I have many accounts.

AND NO, I'm not playing another game, I'm not going to be back tomorrow playing another game, I'm finished.

I agree in everything

Just look for the post that people did when Ghostcrawler get fired left Blizzard. Everyone was celebrating it and asking what was the next game he was gonna ruin. Now u got the answer. Also idk why a guy that is Gold with negative wr decides what has to be nerfed or buffed. They're digging their own grave with this trash changes.

I feel like HoTS is where League is trying to head. Games are typically 20 mins, and almost everyone can one shot almost everyone else.

wdym in hots you don't do any damage, and carrying doesnt exist.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

Carrying has to exist or everyone would be the same elo because your game would be a coinflip. Good players will win more then in this game.

Im assuming you dont play hots

Everyone is the same level and there is no "gold" or "shop"

So no there is no carrying

Yoooou definitely don't play HoTS if you think the damage is high in that game. Compared to League of Legends, the damage in hots is VERY tame. Even through out the game, assassins still need a good gank to kill people.

Meanwhile Assassin's in this game can be 1/5 and still kill someone in 1 - 1.5 seconds.

to point number 2; the reason that they're trying to get games to be shorter overall is because they're attempting to have the game as appealing as possible to the Korean/Chinese base, where the internet cafe culture is really popular. Being able to play potentially 2-3 games an hour instead of 1 is much more appealing, which was why when games were much longer you'd here about how quickly they would declare open and try to get another game (idk how often it still happens, but i think its much less since i hear about it less).

That's a chinese/korean problem. Keep their crappy attitude and peasant pc less existence in their own countries and leave the western world alone. Hell they can have their own game if it means I can have the post sej meta back. Those 5 months were a freaking golden age of lol. EVERYTHING! was viable. EVERY POSITION! mattered and the only champion complained about was vayne.

that would be nice but riot is owned by tencent, a chinese company. Which means they especially wont invest time and resources to try to have 2 separate games if the upside is little to none.

5050BS3 votes

They need to make a Summoners Rift Map that is made for Short games and leave Ranked at the 45m games.

As it is games are decided at 5m. Why play then?

HaIlMonitor6 votes

Riot doesnt put out the numbers, but the Chinese/Korea players probably are the majority of the player base. If They consist of ~80% (Dont know for positive but other games like pubg its that way) why would they actually cater to us truely? We will bitch and play the game, they just blow money on skins and the pros are treated like kings.

charge attack2 votes

Except China and Korea have the vast majority of the playerbase and viewership. Sure YOU think they should cater to you, but to them you are no more important than a Chinese player, and they don’t give a fuck if you quit if the game will be more successful in the east.

You are not the only one. It really sad Riot is trashing the game so fast and so efficiently.

Deneviel11 votes

The real problem of this game is that it's trying to appeal too much different cultures while his playerbase it's getting older.

You can't make a game that work for Casual, PRO, Asian and Western.

Lots of company make huge balance difference ( to the point of completely cutting or adding whole mech and zone ) purely based on the difference between Asian and Western cultures. Simply speaking, we can't stand each other way of playing and attitude towards gaming.

Pro and Casual also have different way to approach the game and you can't balance a game that works for both.

Lastly, lots of ppl playing this game from S1/BETA ( like me ) are now in the mid/late twenties and it's just obvious that they lost their will and the free time to still play this game. On the other hand, we have new players totally scared of the numbers of champ and the time it will require to collect them while the market it's flooded with other solutions.

Not in WOTLK he wasn't. Ghostcrawler regularly commented on the forums regarding PVP design decisions. In fact, the reason he's so unpopular today is because of his decisions from that time. He regularly commented on the reasoning behind making arena games last 15-30 seconds instead of 5-15 minutes as was the norm.

My cousin is a big fan of tower defense games. I also played many and when I heard about LoL the first time and playd it (early 2010), I was like: "Hey, this is a cool iteration of that concept".

It was like this: First everyone arms up slowly by farming efficiency (back then, jungling was not a thing) and we tried to push the turret. The enemy champions/players are there to stop you and your minions. It was a literal tug war. Then we had a duel or more (ganks etc.) and we won, damaging the tower a bit. Rinse and repeat. I never felt like "Game Over" from dying over one gank or death. The real decision was made in like Minute 20 or 30, when it really showed who performed better on many levels, not only farming. And then the fights started. But everyone was, more or less, geared. It felt way more rubberbanded.

Now it's "Summer Clearance Sale" - Rush with your initial homeguards to place A and get Level 2 ASAP to gank at 3 and mash buttons. Whoever wins that wins the game.

This BS also screws over the already fucked-up "matchmaking", because skill rating have less and less to do with your contribution, but more of the worst enemy. Since this happens to the enemy as well, it's more of rolling dice instead of actual skill.

I wish I could go back to play my beloved Bard. But the last 30 games were an absolute catastrophe and made me rage so hard. Game for game this 8-47 nonsense with 0/14/1 Fioras and shit. "matches" consisting of 32,5% winrate vs 78,5% - guess who won?

LoL is a piece of shit that is being milked by Tencent and assholes that are just corporates than gamers. The artists of the game did a good job all over the last 8 years though. Wish them the best.

Daddy Ants9 votes

The game needs to be more punishing if you're behind.

You shouldn't be 1/5 as Zed Talon Leblanc for example and still be able to 1 shot someone who's completely ahead of you in every way.

Leetri1 votes

Isn't that the opposite of what the boards are crying about though? They say the game is way too snowbally and there's no way to come back, yet you want to make it even more snowbally and give you basically no chance to come back?

What I mean is

A 1/5 assassin for example shouldn't be able to mongo their combo and 1 shot someone who's very fed and far ahead of them.

It doesn't feel good when you're doing well and a 1/5 Zed kills you because he has a duskblade.

completely agree on all of this, but will riot even address this, or even take note? fuck no, theyre too busy jerking their dicks off to the praise theyre receiving for new skins in the fucking roleplay boards. you actually perfectly highlighted so many problems so well. giving it another month before i throw in the towel too. cant even play my main anymore (kennen).

I was waiting 5 years for them to fix the game. After season 4 everything was going downhill. Everything in this game is getting worse and worse.

Ifneth6 votes

I recommend leaving the boards rather than the game. They seem to have filled your mind with tilt, salt, and memes.

  1. This is tilt. Instead of playing back when behind, you get frustrated and just keep moving up. Then you get all-in’d by multiple enemy players and die pretty fast. So you blame the game.

  2. This is a meme. Live design wants to prevent a waveclear+scaling meta where teams wait for 40 minutes to actually play League of Legends, with the game being decided by one misplay or bad teamfight.

  3. Another meme. This is literally the “fire the balance team” one. There’s not much more to say, other than it being Masters and Challenger players who spend all day on the game. If you wanna talk rank, they know the game better.

  4. Yet another meme, where the player blames “Runes Reforged” for everything. In reality, it finally gave players clear choices in matchups, and although the meta choices are pretty good, every high elo player I watch customizes theirs before each game.

  5. This time, it’s salt. RNG has been part of this game since the beginning, and it’s actually been toned down in many places. No more Dodge, for example. But if it doesn’t go your way, then you blame the game.

  6. More salt. I love the flashy kits, and so do the other players who use them. They’re way more fun to play as and against than, say, Udyr running at you and right-clicking. This ties into Point 1, where you’re getting caught out and players are punishing you for it.

  7. Dead meme does not die. Waveclear is fine, with perhaps Talon+Tiamat+Rake being an offender. Players have been ripping through waves for years once laning ends.

Finally, as another poster has mentioned, post your main account if you claim to be Diamond 2 100 LP. Claiming that you “have many accounts” isn’t cutting it. Don’t lie.

Anags3 votes

Why would someone keep playing a game they don't enjoy anymore?

And honestly who cares what rank they are.

Hell, I havent played in months. After watching streams of people stomping with AP tryndamere by running smite using the gold funnel strat I dont see why I would want to play.

OP has some points and while you may disagree and that is fine. Other people agree with them. A lot of streamers and high elo players dont play as much or at all.

Ifneth2 votes

Because the Boards are full of players saying stuff like this. It can actually change minds and make people quit. Now, maybe those people might have quit anyway, but it’s still inaccurate to claim otherwise.

He used his rank to justify his claims.

Because that’s clickbait made by a Diamond+ Player in Silver. You could make AD Nunu work in Silver if you were 5/0 and Diamond.

A few streamers quit, and then suddenly the Boards said that “streamers were leaving” and quitting and that the game was dying. This is just the sort of thing I’m calling the OP out on. Tilt, salt, and memes are literally his entire argument. The Boards deserve better than that.

I can feel you. I peaked at the exact same rank and lp as you and I just can't enjoy the game anymore. I feel like I have zero agency as an individual player unless I'm playing a burst champion and teamwork is all that matters, and once one team has the lead you just get steamrolled from the damage creep.

It's hard for me to even really assess it piece by piece because it's so severe of a trainwreck it's hard to make heads or tails of it. End result is just when I queue up to play this game I don't have fun unless I'm in a premade actively communicating and trying to take the game at least semi seriously.

I couldnt find the graph but I think the survey results they did last year most players prefered 30 min games

TheSingularity13 votes

It depends on how games flow. Like now, games don't end in 10 minutes however they're practically over and you're left to suffer for 5-15 minutes of helplessness as the enemy walks over you. Short game, not fun.

The opposite end, 50+ minute games of sejunai meta, where waveclear was so strong and barron was so insignificant that it was impossible to close out games quickly. Again, not fun.

IMO, assuming no FF a 30-45 minute game is good. It was the norm post sej meta/2nd half of s5 (my fave time period in league history) and seasons 3/4. It was all about out playing, you needed 2 fed people to have a sizable lead and every position was as valuable as the next, just in different ways. Was fken magical.

InfinitexMortal3 votes

almost every game i have now is either an ff at 15 or an ff at 20+. 30 is rare and it usually only happens when the snowballed winning team is just messing around having fun as the enemies are no challenge at that point.

I used to play league of legends, for like a lot for a casual player for me. I used to play with my bf and friends. I even installed 3 different server, league of legends just because I like to play this game while having more friends. But nowaday its just getting stressful, toxics. people left and quit. To me it was such precious time, but being ruined.

4-Runes : I understand the process of simplifying runes/masteries to make the game easier and appealing to masses (that's another point to discuss) but the new runes they created are way too impactful (free zhonya, free flash, free ghost)

6- Champion design : YOU ARE ON POINT : since s6/7 its a total mess and its hurting the game :

all but few of the new champs are uninteresting and redundant in terms of design, appearance and lore, and they pretty much gave everyone a dash, invisibility, and/or a semi global ...

One of the interesting points on Lol gameplay is terrain and zone control, so you had some champs with strong control (ex: anivia) and some with gap closers and you had to play around it. Now everyone is jumping everywhere and the basic champions with no dahses are being called "outdated" by lol themselves ??

8-The reason they throw so many patches / hotfixes is that they are undoing themselves everytime, they seem lost and with no clear vision for the game, only driven by immediate commercial gains.

Sõna6 votes

I remember the old balance team's philosophy when: double-edge sword was nerfed from: Bonus damage dealt reduced to 3% from 5%. Bonus damage taken reduced to 1.5% from 2.5%. They said something on patch note like :"we do not want the masteries to control the games so we tune down the whole damage %" Which indicated that they did not want Masteries to actually influence the game greatly, but as a supportive stat/effect to help the champion.

But now whoever have the best skillset that able to access the power rune, it's basically double their damage outcome which is insane. Something like Dark Harvest accessed by invisible champion, combine with duskblade, I am scared and I rather not to play the game..

Snowman Arc2 votes

I'd like to add two more things as to why people have quit or why I have stopped playing as much.

  1. Player behavior. You can make this the most balanced game ever, somehow, but the trolls will always be here and ruin the gaming experience. It feels like Riot takes no effort into obliterating trolls and inters and flamers. I would take an unbalanced game as it is right now with a good community over the reverse ANY TIME.

  2. Matchmaking. Ties in with the "troll" aspect stated above. Matchmaking just screws you in most games. Seriously, divisions and ranks and the MMR bullshit is so fucked up right now, that a 55% winrate Plat 2 player can be matched with a 48% Gold 4 player. Guess how that's gonna go, and what I will be able to do about it. Spoiler: G4 guy will get stomped, and I won't be able to do anything about it. It makes it so that most games, I feel like I can't contribute, regardless of how well I play, which makes it so that I don't even give me 100% anymore. Why would I tryhard when I know that it will only have impact in 10% of my games? No thanks.

Blossom of Time2 votes

@RH Venom

I agree with all your points. The state of the game right now is worsening with every patch they give us. Damage is too high, games last 15-20 minutes, no room for counterplay if your team falls behind. This is ridiculous! We never asked for any of these! Plus they change the game waaaay too much during the season when preseason is supposed to be when huge changes occur. Now with almost every patch, huge changes are being shitted out by the awful balance and design teams. For example the scuttle crab change (WHICH NO ONE LIKED, LITERALLY NO ONE), the marksmen change (although I think it's a good thing they did this), and the reworks upon reworks. They are changing the game drastically with every patch, having it's players adapt constantly and not allowing them room to breathe. "We care more about our LCS viewers, than our playerbase," said Riot essentially. Super disappointing.

We need someone to be hired to the balance team from the playerbase that actually cares. It's ridiculous how much suffering we have to go through all because of the esports scene and the neglect people from Riot have towards their own playerbase.

InfinitexMortal2 votes

Think I'm going to uninstall this game too. Game has gotten so bad i have to force myself to play it just to be more frustrated after playing it from how onesided the matches are. Almost everything can 1 shot now in less than a second. What is the fun in that? Almost every game one team cant take a single turret since the snowball is so bad this season. Game just Isn't the same one i was so hooked to playing. Riot seems to really be suffering an identity crisis and a greed issue. Only way they will ever be pro player is when they start losing players/customers in huge amounts.
