Regarding the Riven buff on PBE (not the right direction)

6/19 PBE Update: Aatrox Login Theme

Balance team, the Rivenmains community pleaded with you to look at Rivens early game, yet you ignored it and buffed her late game where she is already comfortable.

  1. She lost the 10% CDR from runes with runes reforged, hurts laning

  2. She lost Fervor with new system (yes, so did everyone else but she can’t use conqueror as well as other fighters, it’s clunky on her half the time)

  3. Her base health is extremely low for a fighter (we asked for higher base health)

  4. She literally starts the game with an 1100 gold deficit because she needs warhammer to make laning bearable before she can even start to build her “core item” Black Cleaver. Transcendence does nothing as it takes level 10 to kick in.

  5. Her base AD is too low

  6. She has no mixed damage or innate healing in her kit, she is EXTREMELY item reliant, she needs to snowball, or else she’s useless Seriously, all we asked for was a buff to her base health/base AD, and a look at giving her fast Q speed combo back (you nerfed that a while ago when you made the bug an actual feature). WE DID NOT WANT MORE LATE GAME DAMAGE, it is not something she needed.

Her main issue is snowballing the lane, which she needs to do, but can’t because of a shitty early game.

Edit: For those that don't want to click, her R bonus AD given has been increased from 20% at all ranks to 20%/25%/30%

Riven is not a fighter she's a skirmisher

Remember the time when Riven was THE cancer champion with zero counterplay ? Teemo too? Now after all the Yasuos, Camilles and Irelias I fucking want to sing when I see a Riven. How the times have changed. As for the buffs, they won't help her too much because in this meta a champion without serious tankyness or damage reduction can't function as a melee fighter since the damage is just too high and they get blown up.

Yeah the buff is completely irrelevant and stupid.

They need to give her a passive that literaly reads : Gain 10% cdr to make up for the huge nerf on runes reforged, that alone would make her more viable in the early game.

And maybe add some small %arpen into her kit somewhere so shes not completely snowball reliant to be useful, so she can actually play the game without having to snowball and go 5-0 in lane.

I'm honestly fine with the buffs they're not the best but at least they help her. I'd be kind of sad though if Riot wants to take Riven into the direction of most of the other skirmishers and make her late game focused. She's always been my favorite toplaner because of her strong earlygame potential. Sadly the changes will probably wake up all the Riven haters even though it doesn't really affect the reason they hate Riven (her early game).

I think only the rank 3 ult change is gonna be kind of effective, the second ult upgrade is only like 10 extra AD so it's not really gonna make a huge difference but the rank 3 ult is like extra 30 AD. Tbh though I don't really think the rank 3 ult will be that great because games rn are already decided prior to the time that she'll get that. A lot of people on the Riven mains Reddit are calling it a placebo buff because of those reasons.

I think a better change would be to slightly lower the CDs on Riven's basic abilities, it would help her early game a lot or, give her more health regen so she can survive lane better.

she also has an absurdly strong shield, and no resource of any kind.

im not saying i know much about riven. and judging by her winrate at 47% buffs would not be out of the question.

but damage and CDR are NOT how i would buff her

those are the like the two things in this game we already have too much of.

we need NERFS to damage and CDR. clearly not on riven, but across the board.

maybe if a part of the damage from her passive applies to turrets, then she would be able to pressure turrets more but not just 'one-shot' them. or just give her a magic damage passive with a slightly better scaling to tickle maokai early game better/give it a base damage of 3, 5 or something but not too much that she becomes a lvl 2 cheese pick.
