I dont get this,jayce and kennen are already meta in pro play as they have been since the dawn of time,what was the problem with sunfire cape? if tanks were "dealing too much damage" then how were these 2 champions viable? attack damage top lane champions already have fervor which allows them to win long skrimishes how are ap tanks top supposed to compete without sunfire cape? Will support become the primary role of all ap tanks in the game?

It wasn't too much damage. It was forced first item.
Still not a great reason when you look at every other lane.
I think the reason for the nerf was the teamfight-damage. So maybe they should revert the damage changes, but nerf it lategame (the lvl scaling)
Kinda the idea behind Sunfire and to a point ICB, is to give Tanks a source of AoE damage to help them manage wave. This allows them to lane against higher damage threats, while not increasing their single target damage too much.
Where the problems come from however, is Tanks reliance on those items to perform said job in the first place. Aside from the fact that you have to build into it, thus not having that power as early as possible, any non tank can pick those up, and have a tanks level of clearing power and damage. (This is where you get the weird Fizz and Ekko builds)
I'm not even sure Why your bring up AP tanks, and an item that doesn't even have AP. (Does non AP tanks Like Sion have better options?) To answer you question, you could potentially get RoA and become a bit of an AP Bruiser. But if the LCS holds any wisdom, all you need is a hand full of doran's rings.

was pretty strong there for quite sometime. Do we really want it to return to that level? Maybe they should really think about just reworking how it works for all the tanks that is is made for.
