Make the fishy a shark, not a goldfish! Nami's Slow Abilities
Hello there :)
I am a support main, currently Gold II, and I play a lot of Nami (~238k mastery points). I am not perfect, but definitely decent at playing her.
I love that fishy, **but here's my issue: **Her abilities are TOO SLOW. It takes quite a while until her bubble hits the ground, and her heal isn't instant whatsoever. It feels like her animations stretch her actions into eternity. This can get really frustrating, because landing a small bubble isn't the easiest task to begin with if you're facing a high-mobile champion, and by it taking so long to hit the ground it gives champions way too much time to avoid the stun, and predicting where to throw it becomes more challenging due to the delay. Same goes for the heal. So many times I would use my w (heal) on an allied champion, actually managing to click on them and using the ability in-time, but he/she dies anyway due to the delay.
Some might point out that it would be overpowered if Nami's abilities were faster. I can understand why some might think that, and I am not saying her abilities should be INSTANT. But:
- Since her stun isn't a long stun like Morgana's or Lux's, champions aren't completely taken out of a fight if they are caught
- Her heal certainly is strong, but it is not even remotely close to Soraka's heal (which cast-time is much shorter)
- She isn't a tank like Leona or Taric, so she heavily relies on being able to save herself or her adc by bubbling opponents
- She does not have a lot of damage (unless the majority of her runes are AP and AP items are purchased instead of pure support items) like Sona
- She does not have the peeling capacity of Janna (whose q can keep champions at bay fairly easily if someone like Leona jumps on a champion) and Lulu (instant polymorph, enough said) due to the long cooldown of her bubble, even though her bubble (or ult) is the only way to stop someone going in on her adc, which is SO UNBELIEVABLY SLOW!
Even though the snailness of her abilities really bothers me, I still enjoy playing Nami, and I consider her a very strong support. However, in comparison to a lot of high-damage champions and tanks, she struggles to keep up, especially if her team is behind.
Has anyone else struggled with this? A lot of champions are being reworked, many of which were very strong to begin with (Zac? Maokai? Sejuani? Those champions were amazing even before, but a lot of League players rather pick high-damage champions/non-tanks because everyone seems to want to carry games via damage. Tanks win games, people!). I'd love to see some supports being reworked, because as a support main, I am getting a bit tired of non-support champions being able to completely destroy bot-lane healers (not always, but the fact that Vel-koz without his farm-income can dominate a healer-adc bot-lane seems a bit ridiculous).
Thank you for reading :)
