Botting to Level Up Accounts - DON'T BE LAZY, COME ONNN!!!

Heyyyyyy there,

So, I play a lot of bot games. I am level 30 and can play both normals and ranked, but I don't enjoy playing those by myself, so I tend to play bot games to get points and become familiar with new champions. They are relaxing and a nice change from the more competitive pvp games. However, I've noticed something that really bothers me:

People use programs to play bot games FOR them to level up their accounts and/or gain IP points.

It's fairly obvious when someone isn't a real person. There are some telling signs:

  1. _No communication of any kind
  2. Standing in lane without doing anything (there is a specific spot those bots go to at the start of the game, for instance.)
  3. Using abilities and summoner spells randomly (simply standing in lane and suddenly healing)
  4. Getting killed by turrets and champions at an alarming rate
  5. etc._

There are more signs, and I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed those bots in AI games. They aren't just new and inexperienced players. You can very easily tell apart new players from bots. They behave VERY differently, and often those accounts are in fact a higher level, so clearly the player would have a basic understanding of the game (for instance, back off from turrets when no minions are present).

So what's the problem? It is unfair towards people who work hard to level up their accounts and get IP points. We all know the tedious struggle of getting to level 30 or getting enough IP points to finally buy that 10th rune page. No one enjoys the long path to finally being able to play ranked on a new account. So yes, I understand why some people use bots. But it should be a challenge and achievement to get to level 30. Plus, since bots feed and don't help the team, it becomes difficult to actually win games for new players if there are one or more bot-players on their team.

Others and I have been reporting those accounts when we notice the botting in the past. But not ONCE have I gotten a message that the player has been punished or that any kind of action has been taken. Does that mean they are not getting punished, or is Riot simply not informing players if an action has been taken in bot games?

Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

They do this so they can sell the account when it is level 30. The people that buy these accounts are usually the ones that got a perma-ban and they don't want to spend the time re-leveling an account.

For your last paragraph: It only notifies you if the game you reported the person in is the one that bans them. Also it could take many games of them getting reported before it will ban them.

I report them however you only get notified if your game was the trigger. So say you report them, and then in the next game people report them and the botter gets a ban, you will never know but that game that triggered the punishment, they will know.

Don't lose heart!

if riot made leveling faster w/o boosts or just started people at 30 then you would hardly see any bots.

IMO they should just let people pay to get their account to 30. Would prob turn bronze into even more of a shitshow, but how much worse can it get? As for people who bot for IP, I don't really get it, unless it's for runes, which are getting reworked, so we'll see.

The messages you see that "a player has been punished" are tied to the Instant Feedback System. Players who use 3rd party applications to level their accounts are punished through alternative systems and in ban waves. As such, your reports are evaluated and the players are punished even if you don't receive a notification telling you so.

EDIT: Aeszarck beat me to it!

just played a game with three people doing this, cheating with third party ap, afk, feeding... Is there no end in sight?

MrHaZeYo5/4/2017, 12:31:58 AM1 votes

They don't bot their own accounts, they bot accounts and sell em on a website.

every single day I see people cheating using third party programs to afk, level up their character, and feed. Why is RIOT not talking about this?

What is RIOT doing to ban these accounts? I see people using third party programs everyday. I report them for third party programs but never receive any feedback anything has been done...

try googling there's been topics since 2012, problem will be ignored as it has been. to be fair though i don't really blame botters for selling 30 accounts. the rune system is outdated and redundant. i suppose it's a nice way to make some quick cash if you have your computer on all day.
