Should I build lich bane or echo on akali?

Echo first then Lich.

But if you have to pick one, Echo, its a better early item and doesn't waste stats, plus the ults can charge it pretty quick.

At least thats how I think it works, If an actual Akali player shows up take their word over mine :P

ludens is increasingly becoming my fav for a helluva lot of ap champs both mobile and immobile. its like the statik shiv for mages. i dont play akali at all but i feel like she would gain a lot from the extra damage and mobility and ive been told ludens scales real well with magic pen

if you get lich buy it late after you stack ap and preferably if your ahead. I have a dream that lich bane will one day refund the unused mana stat and spell vamp off a portion of the spellblade damage (no more than 175% base ad in damage) and at 50% reduced spellvamp effectiveness. now we're talking, till then a man can dream.
