Riven is not that great in certain match-ups. However, she can stomp most other top-laners, just try her more often.

Her kit isn't meant for "average skill level" Riven is meant to be more of a low floor, high cap skill level champ.
If you lose as Riven, go back to the drawing board and keep practicing til you get better.
