Thye just give general tips. Ekko will be released as a mid laner but hell im sure people will take him support, jungle, top and mid. They will find out were he is good and mid will probable be the best but they will still take him other places
That's how it would no matter what they do.
The meta is generally just "what best uses the game to win". It's not just because some pro used something different. They're using the map/items/champions to the best they can.
Also a lot of players do learn to make things on their own. You can get to Master tier with maining any champion. The pro's play a different game than the rest of us.
Only thing that's really a staple meta in this game is the 1-1-1-2 lane setup. They would have to change the map to change this as it makes the most use of the map. Only thing that changes is which lane the 2 is in. Outside of the very rare niche cases of a team trying to fast push a lane with 5 mid or something like that.
Also often the changes they make and the fact they are constantly changing things is a very good thing for the game as long as they don't break something. It creates something fresh. This game would probably get quite stale without changes. Just like how people were so sick of the jungle at the beginning of the season. Then tanks become strong. Now people are bored of it already. They'll make a change somewhere that will make it so tanks are not so dominate and the cycle continues. I just hope they don't change too much because the jungle is really in a healthy spot right now. If they can fix the mage item it'd help quite a bit.
