Can Sona receive a little bit of power shifting?
So, I'm pretty sure as far as winrate is concerned, Sona is in an okay spot, but that's not what concerns me right now.
What does concern me is that currently, Sona is an incredibly unsatisfying champion to play. I do see people say it's because hard engage supports are the meta right now but honestly I don't find them to be the problem, as much as, say, junglers, or just the high damage and burst from everyone across the board. I can safely lane vs folks like Alistar or Leona, not too big a problem. To be honest, most of my concerns come when you compare Sona to other enchantresses.
Sona's early game, until about 25 minutes into the game or so, tends to be a pretty miserable experience. You don't do enough damage to trade with, nor the sustain to heal from a trade. Even Janna of all things is a better poke mage thanks to her small rework a few months ago, along with her safety in her shield and disengage. It ends up being not very fun, and little more than a waiting game than anything else, and if something goes awry, you usually expect your team to be angry because you can't really do much about it.
True, Sona is a hyperscaler, so she should be at her weakest state in the early game, so I'm not really asking for damage buffs. Really I would be content with some early HP buff, or a return to the Armor she lost in the hotpatch months ago, or something else self-defensive focused. Perhaps it would help her lane survivability just a little bit vs so much damage, without making her damage any stronger.
Perhaps even trimming a little bit of her scaling and giving her a bit of early game power would help out, without cranking up her winrate to something high.
Idunno, I'm not the greatest at balance, but I think that Sona could definitely use just a little bit of attention. I don't personally think she's in much need of a rework, to be honest, maybe changes to make her E more impactful and interesting, but that's about it.
Thanks for reading.
