Off meta picks

It's Preseason!!! Time for the off metas to become meta or, #IsItMeta as Riot would say. So I decided to play after a long time... Riven. In the jungle. Now why I did this:-

1. I actually like riven as a champion.
2. I main the jungle role
3. Since it's preseason, I thought I'd sharpen up 2 off meta champions so that when chaotic first few months begin, I can climb with these picks since naturally, few people know what to do against them
4. I lack the mechanics of a good riven player and don't have the time for sitting in practice tool to improve them. Hence I don't play her in the toplane due to animation cancel being inevitable.
5. I consistently play at around 170-180 ping where something like a fast combo is impossible.

So I get in game, do the initial clear with fleet with no sweat, gank a few, get a few assists. Then my team and the enemy team mind you, calls me a troll for picking riven jungle. I was 4/7/4 I think, second most CS on the team. Through out the game, my team did not ward a single objective, or even the river for the matter. I begged them, literally said please ward guys please ward I have 0 vision of udyr. I ended up being the hero by stealing the Drake with my Wind slash but we inevitably lost. Is off meta = troll?
