How do you handle multiple games with awful teammates?

There has to be something that people do in order to avoid having the most useless teammates matchmaking can put together put on your side vs the enemy's side.

Far too often, my teammates hand the game over to the enemy before I can even impact it.

Some examples would be:

  • Counter picking yourself in champion select.
  • Picking all AD champs in champion select.
  • Picking champions that are out of your skill range.
  • One-tricking a champion and forcing the pick in a bad composition.
  • Bad CSing in lane.
  • Not understanding how minions wave push and consistently setting themselves up to be ganked.
  • Dying alone in the jungle, multiple times.
  • Dying in lane, multiple times.
  • Giving up multiple objectives without reason.

No matter what position I play, it will consistently be multiple other roles, checking off multiple items from above (and others) pre-15 minutes.

This leads into further bad decisions by my teammates and thus suckering me into this type of gameplay. I can easily ignore it and pad my KDA, let the overpowered enemy team push me to the nexus and win, however, it's a matter of sunk costs, I've had to lock my time into this match, I might as well monkey play the same in order to TRY and make the game last 50 minutes in order to make the game come down to 1 fight that can go either way for the win. This is just not optimal, nor is it whatsoever fun knowing you're game comes down to stalling it out so it comes down to a knifes edge.

Yes. My stats are shit, especially on this account, it's not a main. Yes, my play is not perfect BUT when I'm actually trying, I run into this predicament FAR too often, which is simply just tilting. Bad play by my teammates rubs off on me and I end up playing bad in turn. When my teammates are playing good and I don't mean carrying, I just mean, NOT giving the enemy team the game, I play good. So, please, don't turn this on me.

How do you fix this, handle this, correct this?

Some solutions I thought of would be:

  • Joining a 5 man team and only playing with them with voice comms.
  • Buying a Masters account so the amount of players I play with is significantly lower and thus chances of having awful teammates is much smaller. This has the added benefit of playing against stronger opponents and thus being in an environment to improve.
  • Creating better AI than intermediate bots, hacking my teammates computers and implementing my AI to control their champions instead of them.
  • Spend most of my in-game time teaching my teammates instead of playing the game (likely will result in mass flaming and tilting, nobody is seemingly open to suggestions in-game).
  • Quitting league because it's breeds toxicity and is inherently an awful experience as a solo player (being that it's a team game without voice comms built in).

I simply do not know. Help, please.

Or you know... learn to let things go... or get over it... or stop taking a video game so seriously.
