What? An odd "working as intended"...

Simply put, Darius activated his ult on Vayne and was in mid air, waiting to come down. At this point our Vayne used her knock back while our Leona simultaneously used her stun. Darius was pushed up against the wall, so effectively double stunned. Well, his ult still went through and killed Vayne while he was pushed up against a wall with a stun icon above his head, and without ever actually finishing the ult animation. This perhaps needs some looking into as it makes no sense at all. Anyway, just a heads up!

There are only 2 3 things that can stop a darius ult's cast in this game

1: Bard ult on him or the target/Zhonyas on the target 2: Darius losing vision during the cast animation

{quoted}

3: Kill him.

well darius was already in animation for the ult... vaynes condemn and leona ult came after , his ult isnt canceled due to the stuns ... that was already processed and it kinda processes what happens 1st . so the ult was continued through the stun

It's the same deal as an Ezreal E. Animation interrupted doesn't mean ability interrupted.

It's "working as intended" because Darius is one of the older champions where there casting isn't that complicated coding wise. His ult has a wind-up and animation, and that's it.

Passed the wind-up, animation is shown, damage is applied after X seconds delay. There's not intermediate travel phase.

The thing was quite inconsistent across the board regarding how casting animation works, and how damage is applied.

And then there was an overhaul to ultimate to change their casting/traveling, but towards the opposite direction of being "unstoppable" passed a certain point. It makes sure most ultimates are difficult, if not impossible to stop. It makes sure most ultmates are guaranteed to do what they are supposed to do without interruption. If an ultimate is easily interrupted, they will not be very effective in some match ups. It destroys the satisfying moment of playing that champion.

In the case of Darius, you cannot stop him after the initial cast.

Normal abilities can't be interrupted by most CC.

Channeling can be interrupted by hard CC.

Movement can be interrupted by a new movement effect which overrides the current one.

I suppose there might be some abilities that cancel if the target leaves range, but I'm not sure.
