Swain support = Soraka top

If we're gonna gut Soraka top, is it not fair to say we should nerf Swain bot? They're both out of their respective lanes and do extremely well

riot see any champion going support but it isn't their primary role: -riot " oh cool, sure you can do that, in fact lets balance around that" -morgana and lux "wait i'm only here because midlane isn't going well for me lately"

riot "yup yup sure, lets just give you base stats and butcher your scaling"

riot see a support getting out of support role: -riot "how dare you?! go back to botlane you freak" -soraka and sona top "but we are just here because the toplaners that could destroy us suck, why dont you do something for them?" -riot "you dare to talk to me like that?, -5 ms"

They are completely different...

Soraka dominates because she abuses the safety of being a ranged toplaner with heals, slows and speed. Then she becomes a free win if the enemy fails to kill someone. She has a very unfun lane and a stupidly high winrate.

Swain has been recognised as a support for a long time now, he is like a mix of ap supports and tanky engage supports. And he doesnt have a 55% winrate.

This is an extreme case of false equivalency. Does Swain support have a 55%+ winrate? No. It's not even remotely close to the same thing lol

See i fucking called that someone was going to say something about swain because of all the fucking losers who cheese him support. Swain does NOT need a nerf, yeah im aware his pull is really good in the support role, but by himself? In the role he was ment to play, HE IS BARELY PLAYABLE, between him needing to scale hard to do any dmg unless you go glass cannon (which is stupid, imo) when the games barely last long enough for him to actually scale, and the fact that if you were to nerf him, he would just be unplayable due to how much hes on the line of garbage and playable.

Remember what happened to brand? I barely see brand played anymore, mid or support, yeah i get 4% might have been a bit much, but his WHOLE poinnt is DoT tank melter, and they got rid of it, and with how many dashes and all the mobility in most champs now, the 'main' part of the passive which is the explosion, doesnt even work like its supposed to half the time because it takes too long to explode, giving them all the time they need to walk out of it even if you slow with crystal scepter or hit an ult on burning targets.

The only thing he really had going for him was the DoT untill late game, and nerfing that nerfed his overall dmg, which normally would be fine, but with teamfighting going on at BARELY midgame, the explosions dont even do dmg to one target at that point, and if you were able to have an explosion burst on a team, the dot would do barely anything, let alone attempting to get explosions on the rest of them. This makes it so, like swain, youd need to build a less scaling brand and make him a glass cannon to do dmg, and seeing as how he is a mid range mage, he would just be focus fired before he could combo any spells, practically making it 4v5 as certain points or vs champs that can just dive without actual risk.

Swain, in my mind, is the same way. If you nerf his passive, it would not only take away the support cheese, but make him EVEN WORSE in his main lanes, turning him to barely played or unplayable, and thats just unfair to swain players.

If anything, id buff him in other ways to make solo lane more viable again for him, and MAYBE a small nerf to the passive, maybe cooldown wise, and you wont see him botlane much but he wont just die/get worse in his other lanes, and we will see him go back to what hes supposed to be.

Although, i will say the whole soraka and sona going top thing was a massive miss from riot, as the problem was moreso with toplane than the supports themselves. (even though i think sona should not do as much dmg as she is doing, and that soraka needs to be more than just a "fuck you, im going to press w and heal my carry to full" champ)

Im aware im biased because i main swain, but putting it aside, he really is almost barely playable in most lanes due to other champs scaling harder early or just dashing away from him. Sadly, support cheesing is the only "main" thing hes got going for him, and i wish it wasnt, because it leads to posts like this.
