Wait for the rageblade nerfs.

If I was laning versus Irelia in the top I would probably play Malphite, Heim, might even try Teemo. She relies heavily on auto attacks for her damage so Jax could also work. This sounds like truly a simple issue to solve, what champion were you using? That's crucial information you left out.

Who are you picking against her?

Irelia can easily burst squishy champions once she has a few levels in W and Sheen. She's great at assassinating and sticking to squishy targets if she doesn't die early.

Irelia can have issues fighting some bruisers some tanks (specifically, durable champions who focus on dealing damage). Some good choices are: Darius Garen Nasus DrMundo Trundle Jax

Keep in mind that Irelia is relatively weak early-game. She is primarily a mid-game monster when she has completed Trinity Force and has maxed W. Be very careful about fighting her 1v1 at this point since this is her biggest power-spike in the game.

There are a couple builds paths for her, but broadly speaking, she either builds as a bursty bruiser with good engage or a melee carry.

The former involves Triforce, maybe Sterak's Gage, and some tank items. She'll win by spacing out her abilities (Q->wait->E->wait->W) to get her Spellblade procs, which do something like ~200-300 damage depending on level. Counter her by building HP/Armor/Attack Speed Slow items like Frozen Heart or Randuin's Omen. Don't underestimate her dueling potential, especially at low health where her E reliably goes from a two second slow to a two second stun.

The latter is usually done by junglers. They run Devourer, Wit's End, Guinsoo's Rageblade, and maybe Blade of the Ruined King along with boots and a defensive item or two. She's not a front-line tank at this point, but heaven help you if you're caught out, because she will melt your face off in the duration of her E's slow. Between Challenging Smite, her W, and the Sated on-hit duplication, she can do 300 true damage per second - which means even tanks aren't safe from her, and the just end up deleted.

If she goes that route, counter her like you would Yasuo - don't park near minions she can chain her Q to get to you, and blow her up before she can get in range. CC isn't that effective thanks to her passive, and her sustain's pretty good, but she's on the squishy side. "Kill her first" becomes a reasonable option, and she's very vulnerable to knockups.

Pantheon has classicaly been one of the hardest lanes. I would say darius or garen but both are currently rather manageable.

But part of the issue is that so much of her damage is now from Her ult because of rageblade that it is not easy to survive her burst once she gets rageblade fully stacked.

You could try Trynda since his ult can make Irelia's burst not really matter.

I would say Nasus for being a pain in the butt but I haven't faced one as Irelia since the Rageblade changes so he might not be able to play so safe currently.

The last option when you are not getting any jungle help is to play something that can effectively disengage like Quinn or Karma.

But Irelia is still vlunerable to ganks since her only "escape" is Q which requires a minion to go to and her passive which only makes CC somewhat less effective.

I am not going to try and defend Rageblade in it's current state. I know it is over the top when fully stacked and results in more damage then trinity force for 1000 less gold.
