The Problem With Mastery Level 6 and 7 Plus Hextech Annie
Why cant getting to level 6 and 7 be free? Ive seen a reddit post from someone at riot , here is the link https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/4kao4l/riot_spiffy_we_are_lowering_champion_mastery_6/ , saying they will decrease it to like 70 and 85, but that doesn't solve the fact that its difficult to get champion shards to convert them into blue essence because you are most likely to get a skin. in my opinion the fact that you have to PAY in order to get to a certain level is the same thing as pay to win. even if you get a chest by getting it by playing, you still have to be lucky enough to get a champion shard. since you can only get 1 chest per champion per season, you are forced to play other champs that you may or may not be good at and even then you still have a good chance of never getting a shard. so all that's left to MAYBE get a champ shard is to buy the keys and chests using money. which is very much like pay to win. i simply don't like the fact that riot is trying to get blue essence relevant when simply this is the wrong way of doing so. You can remove blue essence and nobody would care. The other 2 methods though, is just as ridiculous as the first method. The other method requires you to get the EXACT same champ from the chests that will give you the shard that you want for a very very small chance of it ever appearing. Which is a method that shouldn't even exist in the first place because of its requirement. The third method is as ridiculous because, instead of chests, you have to get 3 champion shards, which sounds like hell already, combine them, and SOMEHOW get the permanent champion shard from the more than 100 champions, making it less than 1% chance of you getting the permanent shard that you need. Those methods are simply just unnecessarily difficult tasks that only people that have large amounts of money can accomplish without the hard work of getting chests by playing. You honestly have a better chance of getting a champion shard by buying the chests and praying to whatever god you believe in to get really lucky.
This is the same for the Hextech Annie Skin as well. You have to get 10 gemstones or the skin itself in order to unlock it, instead of just having people use RP and getting the skin just like that. Since getting the skin itself would be extremely difficult do to the random chance, you'll have to try and get the gemstones. That is very much like pay to win because you have to buy so many chests to even just get 1 gemstone. Yes, paying in order to get the normal skins is very much the same but it is definitely way less expensive to get a regular skin.
My experiences with it was something that really sold the idea of removing the costs. When I got 2 S+ for
, I immediately spent the shards i did have for level 6. I'm not a
main though, I'm a
main. So when I finally got the second S i needed for
, I couldn't get it because I only had 26 blue essence left. Plus I had no champion shards/permanents to give in so I couldn't get to Level 6. The next game, I get another S, and my thought was that I may not be able to reach Level 6 now, the S I got could still count towards the 3 S/S+ I need for Level 7. I was wrong. Not only does it not count, you are forced to go to Level 6 before any S or S+'s count. So all the hard work that I put in to that extra S, has all gone to waste. This happened at the day when this discussion was released. I am really pissed with this. So all the S's i get with
doesn't matter. That is not fair. This something that has most likely happened to someone else and it will continue to happen to other people as well. Someone needs to tell Riot, that this is not OK. That this is really close to pay to win. It might as well be pay to win. Honestly, this isn't just my opinion. This is most likely lots of people's opinion. I really do hope that Riot will fix this.
