Why are there more male champs than female champs?!?!?!

OK riot, I have to get this off of my chest because I'm just speechless.

I find it really f***** up that there are more male champions than female champs. There are literally like 50 females to the 70 males in this game. Why?? Its clearly not a mistake. If Riot didn't have a bias during the process of making a champion, then there would be an equal amount of males and females (You know, give and take a few). But no. Riot are masculanists. Its really quite horrific how they diss their female player base. God damn it, if riot was a personified face, I would spit on it till my mouth be dry. out of the last 14 champs only 4 were female.

I'm just absolutely depressed. I'm in tears, writing this was hard enough. not as hard as being a female is. Stop the sexism, it's an online game for god's sake.

Edit: The Last 4 Females were literally:

  • Half Animal emo
  • Sexualized female robot
  • A Female that has thick eyebrows and short hair (i guess this is the closest we'll ever get to a real girl cuz riot is sexist)
  • and a fat bodybuilding woman who literally looks like maoui from moana.

stop.

Their focus is on making good characters, not an arbitrary 50/50 split.

Braum started out as a female engineer called Cici. Cici wasn't working out, only the part of her kit where she used her work bench as a shield was. They decided to make the best shield champion they could, and as part of that process they moved to having a mountain of a man holding a massive shield.

The game is better for having Braum than Cici, regardless of if that decision doesn't being them closer to a 50/50 split. Many real world occupations are drastically further away from 50/50 than League is. Just as you wouldn't force more men/women into occupations they don't like we shouldn't force the game to be a 50/50 split despite what's best for the game.

In fact, I'd be more serious about the possible notion that OP is masquerading characters for people to shat on in order to forward certain agendas.

But maybe OP is just really that dumb, we'll see.

Oh yeah, because ragging on a video game's design team for not exclusively making certain types of characters hasn't damaged the industry enough already. Your idea for a completely normal character who does nothing as their claim of being a "legend" is clearly top-knotch, I mean how could it not be since you totally know better than them, right?

Heck, there's enough reason here to believe you care more about the characters than the actual game, which for someone who isn't into designing anything is ridiculous in 2017. Why post this in the Gameplay subsection, and lastly, why even give two shits about new champions? Nine times out of ten Reworks are just better in design, thematics and gameplay anyway.

I think your numbers are a little off. In the past 14 released champions, there are 8 males and 7 females.

There are more male sex than female sex anyway.

Also, you may want to reduce your scope to human champs only, or at least those that look human-ish for the most part. Since otherwise you know, we don't really care (many people also don't care even if they're human or human-looking, too).

Please demonstrate how you reached your numbers. What are the genders, if applicable of champions like: Bard Chogath Fiddlesticks etc? I think there's quite a few champions for which our gender dichotomy may not be applicable, or if it is, we have no way of knowing which one they would be. (We DO know that Rek'Sai is female because riot said so, and even made a big deal about having a female monster champion; granted Elise arguably is also a monster in her spider form). League has quite a significant population of female champions, most of which are quite the badasses, some of which are even not sexualized too (Taliyah for a recent example).

The real question is, did you count Kindred as male or female? As they are together only 1 champ, and 1/2 being female and 1/2 being male, you should have ended with 49.5 f, and 71.5 m, or 51.5 f and 69.5 m

So, whichever gender you assigned to them, you're being sexist yourself.

Who gives a damn if they're male or female? When I first started I picked champs because of how they looked and if their skills sounded cool. I started with Zed and Kayle . Now I play champs who I genuinely have fun with and enjoy, not who are either male or female for the sake of playing that gender. Enough with the social justice PC crap. Gets old.

I dont think riot really care whether a character they make is male or female. There are several characters in the game without genders at all.

Hey fUlBwOlga,

I'll be locking this thread because it doesn't really pertain to the Gameplay of League of Legends.

If you want to discuss Riot's decisions with regards to male vs. female champs or their portrayal of women, I think either "Story, Art, & Sound" or "Miscellaneous" would be better sub-boards.
