Support's LP Loss

Why is it that support's lose the same LP amount for losing games as the rest of the team. In the majority of games, supports are supposed to have less gold and deal less damage than all the other players on a team. They're also a main source of vision/vision removal and cc/countering cc for the team, with most of their items being active use items designed to remove cc, heal, or protect other people. With all of this, supports cannot actively carry people who cannot fulfill their own role on the team. For example, most of the support role relies on team mates following up on your abilities to win trades or fights. This doesn't encourage people who excel at support to continue to play support at low elos. There's no recognition in game for supports. With less and less people playing support at lower elos, the problem with autofill support "problem" continues to happen. With such dependence on your team to carry you through the game, why is it fair for a support role to lose the same amount of LP as everyone else?

Why do they gain as much LP when they win a game then? According to your argument they didn't earn it so they should get less.

If you are a good support, you should be able to manage vision and keep your turret from getting taken. This gets you to mid/late game. It is definitely likely there is someone on your team who is playing well and can use support. After laning phase, work with that person even if they're not your ADC.

You're not that dependent on others for a win. Especially if you are playing a supp that has some independence.

As a support main, I agree with this comment. Even if you are playing a champ with more independence, you get flamed for leaving your lane, and if you don't leave your lane, you get flamed for not enough vision, not keeping your lane alive, etc. I don't play ranked yet, for exactly this reason.

What do you do when your other lanes are losing as well? For instance, how can you be impactful enough to carry a game in which your top and mid laners have lost lane before you are able to leave the bot lane? I guess I'm having trouble seeing how people can solo queue as support in low elos and expect to climb.

By that reasoning you should gain less LP when you win since you aren't the carry on the role. So in the end it wouldn't change anything.

These are valuable points, and there is an obvious flaw in my argument. In this case, with few people wanting to play support, no in game recognition for supports, support based mastery keystones getting nerfed/misused, and a lack of ability to carry a game, why is support still a role in the game? What's the point in playing, and forcing others to play a role which is so negatively viewed and unimportant? Is it just a major game flaw that the developers cannot seem to correct, because there is no money in correcting it?
