This is the biggest flaw in matchmaking IMO. Over the years I've seen it extremely consistently that they'll put brand new players who reach lvl 30 in the mid silver elo until they lose 8 out of 10 promos and end up in silver 5 or bronze 1. Then they proceed to feed until they reach an ELO they deserve. Brand new lvl 30 accounts should start in bronze.

Ok I see the frustration...they should not be putting new players in the 1300 range. This really needs to be looked into.

FYI Silver 5 is the same MMR as a fresh unranked player.

This isn't a far-fetched occurrence at all. You're literally playing in unranked MMR.

yo provisional forum moderator here! first i wanna say im sorry you had a poor experience :( there are a number of possibilities for why you could end up in this kind of situation (you gotta remember no matchmaking system is perfect) but most likely is he could have been duoing with a high mmr, also even if you are higher rank sometimes your mmr can be lower (i dont know if this applies to you) but ya... i agree that you had an unfortunate experience and ill try and see if i can figure out what happened! good luck going forwards on the rift!
