So Ahri's passive is getting nerfed

But Cho'gath's passive is fine? Ok?

Yes I'm mad. Yes I'm biased. I just want a valid reason to not also nerf Cho's passive.

Because's Cho mana costs are ridiculous, he is crap early and actually needs to CS.

Also only one of them is amongst the most picked champions in the game while keeping a 54% winrate.

Cho is melee, so you can prevent him from getting CS unless he uses abilities for farming which will drain his mana incredibly fast. Ahri is ranged and has tons of mobilty which makes her the safest pick and can engage anytime she wants. Her mana cost is also one of the lowest.

ON top of that, Ahri is numero Uno in the midlane. The passive nerf is well in place, she'll still be one of the strongest midlaners in the game, though.

There's the problem. You can't force him out of lane, his sustain is far too good. Ahri also has big trouble with mana costs early btw. Try to force a Cho out of lane as Ahri, you will run out of mana throwing Qs before he even is 50% hp.

So does half the other mage champions. And obviously, you're comparing a mage to somebody who's a tank with high sustain :l. He's also got no mobility. ehm ehm, unlike someone.

Tanks aren't really supposed to do that much damage. Don't really think a Sion could burst someone 75-0.

Nerfed in what way?

Oh and this is just a hunch, but I think Rito don't want assassins to have built-in sustain

Ionian1 votes

Nerfed as in it heals less.

Nerfed as in it heals less.

Only at certain levels, it still heals near the same lategame. It was a way to stop the crying without really hurting her.

Ionian1 votes

Heals less at every level except 1/16, up to a maximum of -8 per proc at 15.

Ahri's quite a bit safer than Cho'Gath (Cho gets far tankier after the early game, but Ahri has multiple dashes and her significant MS boost on her Q)

I'd surmise its mostly because Essence Theft is quite powerful when hitting multiple enemies (if we assume she gains 3 charges every time she uses a spell; the max she can possibly gain)

Using her Q on an entire wave of 6 minions would restore 18 ~ 120 (+54% AP) depending on level. that reminds me, does Q hitting an enemy twice count as another hit for the purpose of her passive? If so these numbers would double on a wave of 6 minions to 36 ~ 240 (+108% AP)

Cho heals for approximately 20 ~ 71 hp and restores 3.50 ~ 7.75 mana every last hit, situationally stronger, Ahri's is likely better when she has more AP though.

Yes.

Last time I checked on the PBE, the Ahri passive change was just making it so it didn't scale every single level, but rather 3/5/7/etc. for example. The numbers were completely the same at those specific levels, so Ahri would have the same sustain from her passive at level 3, but not level 4, then normal again at 5. I'm poor at wording this, but from what I saw it wasn't all that bad.

Old --> New

Level 1: 3 --> 3 Level 5: 7 --> 3 Level 6: 8 --> 5 Level 10: 12 --> 5 Level 11: 13 --> 9 Level 15: 17 --> 9 Level 16: 18 --> 18 Level 18 : 20 --> 18

New is always lower except at levels 1/16.

Hey I just wanted to say i agree with you cho gath should be nerfed into oblivion he cannot lose lane unless he is completely incapable and his passive is bull shit so his ult stacking. champs shouldnt have 3 k health but have 100 to 0 capabilities. But also I wouldn't complain this nerf is like nothing look at what happened to kassadin.

My main got nerfed. Time to post an angry post on the forums.

Ah, I guess I did misread her changes. Taking that into account, I have to agree with others in that you are comparing apples to oranges. Cho and Ahri fufill two different roles. Cho is a tank who has rediculous mana costs, no mobility, and minimal range, whereas Ahri is highly mobile with her ult and is ranged among other things. You also have to realize that Cho's sustain rarely even presents itself in teamfights unless he kills something (and the healing he recieves from a single champion death wouldn't be enough to change the outcome of said fight in most situations). Ahri's sustain occurs when she hits something after generating charges, something not difficult to do.

I'm honestly surprised at her number changes. I never felt that her sustain was out of control, but it should open more opportunities for other laners to push her out.

Oh no, now she cant RW bot for triple kills.

Ionian1 votes

Her passive does not affect her damage at all so what are you talking about?

Obvious sarcasm, its barely a nerf.

It's literally almost on the level of a 5 ms nerf.

PiVoRx1 votes

How you can even call that a nerf? It affects like.. nothing? Its like nerfing her ad by 5 and saying this will slove her retarded true damage.

Ionian1 votes

It affects her early game, which is her weakest point. In many matchups the heal is the only thing that lets you survive the laning phase. At level 5, the new passive heals 4 less than the old one. At level 10, 7 less. At level 15, 8 less. It may not look like much but the difference becomes very significant after many procs.
