@ Riot about Aatrox

We want to discuss everything around Aatrox, bbtrox and the issues with it. We wrote 40 pages of feedback for this topic. A community came together to express what they think about it, you received the biggest collection of feedback from a community. We care about Aatrox. You flew in a Mord main from EU to test him. We want Aatrox and to make bbtrox another champion, which you already are by the looks of it. He holds nothing from the original but a name. He represents none of the original ideas presented to us, which we got attached to.

Aatrox Truly mattered to us.

We want to speak with Riot calmly, and show them that Old Aatrox was something that we cared deeply about, and some of us sunk hundreds of hours into.

Ever since his release, I have played Aatrox on EUNE, and nothing broke my heart more than seeing the champion go.

But that doesn't mean that Bbtrox is bad. Far from it, actually.

We simply want both champions, and we have many ideas about how Old Aatrox could be fixed. How his issues that he was reworked for could be removed, and replaced with something grater.

We loved Old Aatrox, and to this day we still do, and even if he was not played by many people, and was a weaker champion, we loved everything from his design to his personality, so all we want now, is to just talk with Riot, and express that love to them so we can show them just how much this single champion mattered to us.

BBtrox could in theory actually be a new champion, just give him a different name and a different weapon (Warhammer for instance) which would make more sense if the knock up Q Mechanic was to be left in that kit and he could co-exist alongside real Aatrox.

We're not making all of these posts and attempts to get the attention of Riot because we actually think there's a feasible chance of a revert. We're doing all of this because we're passionate. Even in the face of overwhelming odds, if there's even a glimmer of hope to get a revert for Aatrox, we'll push for it. Because we care about our champion. We're a passionate community brought together through old Aatrox. We care about Aatrox. Even if we are in denial, even if we have our threads removed and downvoted, we will still fight for Aatrox. Fight, or be forgotten.

Revert Aatrox

I loved old Aatrox. The rework plays nothing like him and is so far from what he used to be that I don't even want to play him while he still has the name "Aatrox" attached.

Not that I'm saying the old version was a pinnacle of design but this one is a balancing nightmare and clearly just not as loved by the dedicated players as the old version.

Imagine if Riot actually listened to player feedback anymore. Wouldn't that be something.

Aatrox was reworked because his kit was deemed unhealthy which I completely agree with. Drain tanks are not a healthy design and being a right click drain tank is even worse.

i mean he has an aoe knouck, a dash, a cc slow, a super mode ult, a revive, and heals based on his damage. like yeah new aatrox is fundamentally different from old aatrox, but old aatrox was butts

I know life isn’t fair, but the way you guys treated us, Aatrox Mains, was actually a really bad move. You guys didn’t listen, which resulted an outcry that wasn’t only by the Aatrox Mains. You guys actually made some huge mistakes with the mini rework, resulting with huge problems. OG Aatrox had a simple kit, but you guys complicated it even more with the mini and major rework. All you guys had to do was make him feel satisfying. Just like the reworked Aatrox, but the opposite, OG Aatrox couldn’t really cast his abilities while in a middle of a melee duel, because it cancels/slows down his autos. It’s even worse for Bbtrox, his Q neglects his Passive and autos overall which feels like that part of his kit is useless. His passive should be a combo started to inflict grevious wounds, but all his delays cause him to make it a combo ender, resulting on grevious wounds to be useless. OG Aatrox on the other hand just needed a better gap closer, Just like tryndamere, where he use his gap closer without denying autos. Also make Old Aatrox more rewarding as a diver, remove his poke from his E. give him a brand new ability to inflict damage, in a really short range, around him. This fixes his poke + free heals problem, but he still had counter play if you pressure him. HE HAS TO WALK UP AND AUTO, causing him to be in stasis, just to HEAL, but his E POKES ENEMIES SO HARD THAT HE’ll get that opportunity anyways. You guys just could have changed two abilities, and make Aatrox feels super satisfying with counterplay.

Alright now please before you downvote my disagreeing reply, please hear me out. I'm not trying to sound like a dick or demean your favorite champion in any way, but I just want to point out a few things. I personally don't think that you'll ever get close to what Aatrox used to be. This is because his old style, while interesting, simply wasn't healthy enough to keep. I mean, if it was, don't you think it would've been kept in some way? Look at every other rework, while some change more than others, if you don't look through skewed vision you'll see that every other rework retains some pieces of the og champion. However this is different with Aatrox. I believe this is a perfect example of what I mean when I say his design simply wasn't salvagable. In the future could they perhaps find a way to make that kind of playstyle healthy and make it a champion? Perfectly possible. However, while parts of reworks have been changed, a rework has never really been completely reverted and most likely never will be. The closest thing to that would be Ryze who's simply recieved multiple reworks, which in the name of fairness I'll say is perfectly possible, but I simply think it's unlikely. I get it, a rework can seem like a complete alienation from what you loved, especially a rework on Aatrox's level. But you have to also understand that asking Riot to give you what you want is a double edged sword. Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe your opinion on Aatrox isn't the only one that exists? There are people who loved Aatrox's looks and theme but absolutely despised his gameplay. Maybe they absolutely adore the new rework and are extremely happy with it. Do their opinions matter? What if they are just as passionate about new Aatrox as some of you are about old Aatrox? Because you like the original, does that make your opinion special? This is all hypothetical, but I'm just trying to illustate how it's not as one sided as some of you seem to make it out to be. The struggle of Aatrox and frankly every reworked champion isn't just all their old mains vs. Riot in the war for the revert, but there are many different opinions concerning them. These are all things you have to take into consideration when talking about these things.

I loved the old Aatrox and I love the new one too, and that's why you simply can't tell me the old Aatrox could ever be balanced. Simply couldn't. In built sustain like he had plus the fact he was just a right click champion without any means of counterplay, and don't even come with the argumentation that his Q and E were skillshots. The only thing I agree with is the fact that Riot did really fcked with the tryhard-old Aatrox mains by swapping from and auto-attacker to AD Caster indeed.

Okay, so, it goes without saying that they'd been working on reworking Aatrox for literal years. They mentioned things, such as taking him in the original direction of "turning the tides of battle," etc., and tried to keep his old W. After a REALLY LONG TIME, and many problems (which I'm not gonna highlight here), they basically said "this isn't working and this isn't worth it we need to start from scratch." To everybody that says they'd have liked Aatrox to remain an auto-based Champion, this is a reminder that Riot, a multi-billion company, working on their most anticipated and one of their most important reworks of all time, tried to make him auto-based and couldn't get it to work. Maybe that's a sign he's better off this way.
