Yasuo Nerfs

This is more of an open discussion thread then me telling you something.

I haven't seen many Yasuo "balance" posts for a little while. Is everyone happy with the nerfs? Like, he has a weaker early game and scales up with a bit of dmg missing late game.

I find him oppressive during mid game if he's fed, but completely useless once everyone hits full build. I can shut him down mid game if my jg does not suck. This will make it easier to do so and a bit harder to play well.

But like the Philip DeFranco Show, I wanna know what you think. I wanna know what you think should be done or if you are happy with what they did. I just wanted to see where people stand with him. Some of his items are getting buffs at the same time, I've built item 3147 on him before, so i wanna see where everyone stands.

If you just came here to cry about losing to a good Yasuo, don't, please? Ty. I won't respond and you will get downvoted if you don't provide and actual solution to an actual problem.

He's a hyper carry. If anything he gets stronger as the game continues. I still see many Yasuo's sporting the tank-hybrid frozen mallet build and still oneshotting carries with ult, when steps were specifically taken to remove this type of gameplay. All he has to do is land one single knockup in a fight, or just wait for someone else to knock up and then he presses a button and automatically wins the teamfight. And if he is building the tank-hybrid build, you're punished for trying to focus him in a teamfight.

Mechanically, you can't even interrupt him mid-ult, so even if you're playing a support who can peel, it doesn't matter. He will ignore all CC during his ult, and still do the full damage, while your entire team is CC'd by his point and click bullshit on zero cooldown for zero resource. That is, even if he is bad and doesn't windwall any of your CC anyway. Even if you outplay him and do everything you're supposed to, it doesn't matter.

When Zed ults a carry, you have a huge window of opportunity to stun/knock him back/kill him before he can do damage to trigger the mark. Yasuo, nope. Doesn't matter what you do, as soon as the animation starts, your entire team takes full damage and CC no matter what.

His hyper safety and low cds with zero resources make him a beast at CSing. It feels like no matter how hard you shut him down or outplay him, he ALWAYS, without fail, is able to come back into the game and carry if it continues past 30 minutes. Having him windwall just to shut down your CSing is extremely frustrating as well. I have never seen any Yasuo at my bracket have less than 250 cs by 30 minutes, when most other laners have ~170ish at the most. Even if he's 1/10, 250 cs is nearly a full build.

I normally ban Vi and Lee Sin, but sometimes I ban him instead. He is just such an irritating champion, and the deluge of complaints and fixes on him kind of solidifies this as an issue.

Normally I never advocate trashing a champion, and in almost every case, there's a way to outplay/counterpick/overcome most supposedly oppressive champions.

But this asshole is just so irritating I wouldn't be the least bit upset if he was Evelynn'd. If he was reasonable to deal with, certainly there would be guides/posts on how to deal with him. But no, all it is, is just complaints about how nobody likes playing against him. In every single elo. He even sports a higher banrate than LeBlanc. That should be proof enough how much people hate playing against him.

I think it was a good nerf even though I thought Yasuo was in a balanced state before. If they could tweak his windwall a bit it will be perfect.

Honestly, I don't particularly care about the nerfs. While it will make his early-game weaker, that doesn't particularly fix any of the issues I had with the champion.

Heck, it will probably make any Yasuo players on my team feed (and rage) worse than they currently do, so I'm not going to stop banning him.

Personally, I just find the game less enjoyable if Yasuo is in it.

He is very annoying to play against late-game when he has Frozen Mallet and Phantom Dancer unless you are playing a champion capable of dueling him since you cannot escape him unless you dash/blink over a wall (which won't always be available). If you are a teamfight-oriented champion or a support, you can't go anywhere near him without assistance without being chased down and killed.

Yasuo tends to attract a disproportionate amount of toxic and/or selfish players who aren't enjoyable to play with or against. They will often try to over-complicate matters to make a "fancy" play and die stupidly for it.

Yasuo's Windwall remains aggravating for champions who depend on projectiles for damage (primarily ADCs and mages) or engaging fights (i.e. Sejuani, Gragas, Varus, Ashe). If his Windwall isn't on cooldown (or is currently active), even attempting to use though abilities is an wasted cooldown if Yasuo is remotely competent. Yasuo doesn't even have to aim it in the correct directions since Windwall blocks projectiles from all directions and starts inside his model.

tl;dr None of the reasons I find Yasuo annoying to deal with (whether as an enemy or ally) have changed, so I'm just going to keep banning him so I can enjoy the game.

I ban yasuo because he has the "teems syndrome". If he is against me someone will feed him and he will carry no matter what you do. If he is on my team he will feed and be 100% useless

Personally, I think there are better ways to tune Yasuo. Some possibilities being:

  1. Making Yasuo's E do physical damage instead of magic damage (keeping the AP ratio).

  2. Reduce the duration for which Yasuo can hold onto his empowered Q. Maybe change it from 10s to 4/5/6/7/8s based on the number of points put into Q? Another possibility is to make his empowered Q do reduced damage and reduce the knock up duration the longer he holds it.

Manaless, shield, wall, free crits, no cd mobility... The dmg is not a problem. Gate his cds, his wall feels like an ultimate, not normal ability.
