Explain balance to me, please

I do not seam to understand what makes an OP or UP champion. Camil comes along, can ult someone smash them into the ground and everyone loses their heads, but master Yi can pop his ult, get 4 quad kills in a single game but apparently that's not OP. God forbid kindred can 2v1 before someone yells OP yet a Yas at 40% health can 4v1 get a quad and again that's healthy?? Please, this isn't a complaint thread, I am genuinely curious. I have been trying to improve at the game but these are the aspects that DO not make sense to me. If kindred could 4v1 that would be considered op, so why is it not OP that Yi can 4v1 3-4 times in a single game.

Because master yi has glaring counterplay and a very straightforward kit. Without his ult and a lot of items/kills, he's very weak. Camille on the other hand, was released with like literally every single thing riot could think of thrown into one champion's kit, and was overtuned on release (high numbers on everything).

Most talk of OP or UP is just mindless circle jerking.

That said, when people talk about Power they are usually talking about at the highest levels of play. Yes Master Yi can absolutely destroy people in bronze but he's easily beaten and hardly played at higher ranks. Camille was a must pick/ban champion at the pro level who was literally played every position except ADC. Her base damages were extremely high and her kit made her very difficult to punish.

When people frequently call something OP they like to cite a champion's win rate (especially at high elo.) However, that only gives part of the story. You also need to look at things like pick rate, player experience and ban rates to get a better picture of what's strong in the meta. I made a video talking about it if you're interested:

Lol balance playing rock paper scissor. Always picks paper consitenly lose to scissor and cry scissors is op to riot and it needs to be nerfed.

I can look for the match history, but I played a game about two days ago, this master yi got 4, yes four quad kills. yes, he can http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2458364310/205255613?tab=overview maybe it was only 3 quad kills but still even then

you have proven nothing... every champ in the game has a achieved a pentakill ...so I don't know why you think other champs can't do this ... getting 4 kills on 4 champs separately and 4 at one time 1v4 there is a difference and yi can not 1v4.

I did not say he killed 4 different champions separately, these were legit QUAD kills as in the announcer announced "QUADRA KILL" 3-4 different times during the same game. The chances of other champions doing that 3-4 times in a single game are not very high. But hey if you want to twist my words and be ignorant at the facts I already stated then go ahead. and again achieveing A pentakill in a game is one thing yes, but 4 QUADRA kills back to back, I feel that is something different entirely. If I could do that with my mains people would lose their shit.

Op champs generally have to much damage and utility at the same time

Graves- Gets tankier for dashing into enemys, smokescreen provides aoe blind, does ridiculous damage for how hard he is to kill not many counters (hard to outjungle) very fast, easy and healthy clear decent ganks good early mid and late game is ranged (albeit close ranged) What are Grave's cons? You can't be braindead and expect to win

Now lets look at Yasuo- lifesteal is cancer double crit chance free last whisper for 15 seconds after ulting can use team to get better ult than he can windwall

cons- Dashing into enemies is dangerous does only expected damage for how squishy he is vulnerable when ulting many counters is melee the only point where he has a clear advantage over a lot of other champs of his kind is levels 1 and 2 and then really late game when he has lifesteal inless you are good you are going to be relying on your team to much.

and for the shits and giggles lets take a vague look at yi:

shit early game for good late game is packed full of damage can dodge cc pretty well mechanically easy to play

cons: no cc squishy- requires lifesteal to not get oneshot, so once he's cc'd he is kinda fucked very useless when behind (again, no cc) very obvious counters (item and champion wise, even though he is a jg, many can invade or outjungle)

Balancing the game is a way to prevent some scaling to be apparent in each stage of the game . For example if a champion would be strong early , mid and late game they would stomp any champ who aint strong in the early game since they would have good early burst and would definitively snowball the lane and the game when you who would be strong mid or late game you wouldnt catch up the apparent difference in gold , xp advantage and scaling . So they balancing the game so your role dont completely be useless if no everyone would play breaking meta champ .
