URF is super fun but how can it be better?
I've heard a lot before that you shouldn't go through the trouble or bother of balancing a "for fun" gamemode like URF because then you make it competitive messiness like the rest of the game. But fun things still have unique rules to them that keep the game fun, right? URF can be a fun game with some extra rules, right? These are just a couple of things I think the gamemode could benefit from.
-Stronger Structures: Towers have always been laughed at for being flimsy paperweights on the battlefield. This shines no better than in URF where a tower can be taken out in just a couple of hits by just about any character. Backdooring is a very viable and easy option if the rest of the team just fought in the middle lane. Take any push champion around the corner and you'll win the game in just a few seconds before the others can recall to stop you. Which brings me to my next point.
-Enhanced Recall: It really baffled me how there is no enhanced recall in URF. We had it in Nexus Blitz so why not have it in the most fast paced version of League of Legends? It seems only reasonable. I almost feel whiplash when I go from casting 10 second cooldown abilities every two seconds to having to stand still for eight seconds while I channel a recall ability. On the normal sized map, which is much larger than any other game mode map, it seems reasonable to allow a faster recall.
-Lowered Damage: Now this one is just super personal and I honestly don't think it needs to be taken serious. I just like longer fights with drawn out interactions, especially in a crazy mode like URF. If damage got halved, imagine how much crazier the interactions would be and how many fun interactions we'd see would be? Though I absolutely understand how this would ruin things like a Jinx Rocket or a character who relies on getting one strong hit in. Though it's URF so how long would you have to wait to do it again anyway?
Threw this together is just a few minutes so it's completely instinctive thought and not a well-thought-out piece. Please, I'd love to hear what you'd want to see in URF! Maybe you'll get it further down the line? They do seem to want to improve it since we got amazing things like that Super Elder Drake and the Machine Canon.
