As the title says...
After I've done extensive testing with Tank Tristana builds, I've finally decided to test it in a Ranked match. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2462096810/235339808?tab=overview
I'd say it was a success honestly; while the match ended up in a defeat, Tank Support Tristana is definitely viable.
hater free zone2 votesYou can't say your off-meta support pick is viable when you lane partner has the most deaths in the game and you have the least deaths. You were an unappealing target/not in position during your teamfights that the enemy team rather picked apart the rest of your team mates.

My ADC was my friend, as we queued together. She was fine with me going Tristana support. Her deaths weren't really from the laning phase; they were more from teamfights. :)

What I've done to make up for it is by jumping in front of the enemy and then ulting them back to my teammates (or my ADC) for an easy kill. :)
I've also become a meat shield for my teammates, as I've mostly absorbed damage.

Actually, they had 1 form of CC, knockback. which still isn't even remotely good for a support to have without other forms of cc.

I've found that her jump was also a slow of she lands on you. :)
Her bombs, from what I seen/tested, made a great poke.

You only get that CC at level 6...which means for the first 6 minutes of the game you are worthless if your adc gets caught.
Thresh has 2 forms of CC...3 if you count the flay can flay you away or forward. I see them winning lane.
Not saying it isn't possible but if both people are experienced supports the one that has the actual support with the CC and the means to lock down the enemy will win in the game and they did win the game
Trist, even with tank runes would still be squishy if you jump in so not worth jumping in to save. This is also why she could be outclassed by a Thresh or Leona who has passives that make them tanky

I tested it in the Practice Tool and in Custom Games.
As I wanted to keep it a secret, I left the game when I ended/finished my tests, so it doesn't show up in my match history. :)

RainXBlade1 votesAnything with CC can be turned into a support nowadays. Just expect to be reported if it doesn't work just because you didn't want to pick a dedicated support.
Mysticman891 votesOk, so any champion can build tank+sightstone and be reasonably survivable, but whats the advantage of trist? I feel like something like tank vayne sup would be better, since then you at least have true damage procs that don't scale with ad on your side, but trist kinda doesn't offer much.
