Sightstone on Jungle Nidalee?
I've been playing LoL for about two months and just reached level 30. I haven't played a whole lot of PvP (only 21 games presently not counting ARAM) so I'm still working on Map Awareness and Game Mechanics. Since someone was dying to play Support, I somehow ended up taking Nidalee into her first PvP. It only took one game for me to seriously question how I should prioritize things as a jungler.
I believe the standard jungler build path is picking up their full jungle item and following with boots. Since Nidalee has terrain crossing pouncing, I opted to pick sightstone second instead. Mistake? It pays for itself in 10 wards, which with (3) three minute wards up will only take nine minutes to be more cost effective than buying stealth wards. (It's not twelve minutes, since you place the first one at 0 seconds.)
Example would be buying Machete, 2 pots and trinket at start. Back after three or four camps and upgrade Machete to Trailblazer. Finish clearing jungle and gank attempt (mine normally fail). Back or respawn and pick up Sightstone and/or Runeglaive.
In theory, I could help ward for top and mid that don't have a Support for the next ten minutes of the game. Is it worthwhile or should I just focus on buying one stealth ward a trip? The other thing is by taking up Sightstone, I can switch to the Sweeping Lens Trinket. Is it worth having two players with the lens?
The biggest drawback I see, is that by grabbing Sightstone I lose a little power to my ganks. But as Nidalee, my gank heavily relies on landing that first spear. Miss and it almost makes no sense to dive into death. Land one and there's a good chance target is going down regardless of my ability power. Also... if I had the 1400gp to upgrade to Runeglaive, I could still pick up Sightstone and one of the Sheen components which is where most of Runeglaive's power comes from anyways.
I'm just trying to think of what is best for the team.
