Mid Year Mage Item Updates Are For Supports?

To any rioter willing to comment.

Since cdr and mp5 seem to be now guided and bound towards support, I was expecting more or better mana options for mid lane. I do not mind the gunblade items (they have their niches), but was interested in if the mages themselves would be receiving cooldown buffs?

If designed properly, then mana could be a better balancing point. There is only one problem with how mid lane mages are now compared to what is proposed. they are designed and required to achieve 40% cdr AND ap to do their job properly. If this cdr binding is reduced/eliminated, then more options could be opened up.

I am curious since that does not seem to be the case with how was altered, implying that cdr is still a balancing point for mid lane mages. The issue that I have with allowing cdr to be a balancing point for mid lane mages is that mana or mp5 is almost interchangeable and non-relevant if they both have cdr attached to the items.

These changes seem to give better options towards bot lane mage supports then towards mid lane apcs, making me feel like something is missing from the items themselves. I hope that is only because the mage changes themselves have not been posted yet.

TL:DR

1. Why should I get mana over mp5?
2. Why not just purchase the options with the most ap, regardless of mp5 or mana?
3. Will I still be required to purchase 40% cdr?
4. Why would support mages avoid mana over mp5? (similar to above, but not the same)
5. Is having lower cd spells with higher mana costs too similar to supports towards the late game to make that shift, or was there other issues to consider?

P.S. I actually like the changes, as I am forced to get it against ad mids. By reducing its cost and giving some cdr, it is not as detrimental of a rush item... though not really ideal.
