Baron, Mastermind, and Miniboss: Veigar
After hearing about the upcoming
removal I thought that we all should talk about
as a character, what niche he fills, his strengths, his shortcomings, and what you feel like he should be compensated with.
I personally think that his character is not about being the evil mage, but a character that represents your inevitable doom. He might not get you now, but he will kill you eventually. He is the classic tv villain that even when he is beaten, he will come back, stronger then ever. This also seems to show (to me at least) in his Ult scaling on both his and his opponents AP.
His niche is being THE burst mage, but more then that he seems REALLY good when he is up against AP assassins. Though his game play may be a bit old school compared to other characters, but it functions really well to lock down highly mobile AP characters and to hit them for a huge chunk of damage.
Strengths: Infinite AP Scaling passive AOE Ground Targeted Stun Target Casting High Burst Potential Teh laughs
Veigar has a lot of little problems that stack up into him being... not very good in the current state of the game, this is all that I don't like:
Squishy - Like a bug
Immobile - Don't expect to leave anyone in the dust
E dependent - Symptom of lacking mobility and squishy
Passive Mana Regen - Lackluster, does not feel good with his kit, and does not do enough Regen to matter
Casting Costs - Way too high, a symptom of passive interference (balance based on passive, see
)
Indifferent: Predictable Play Pattern - You either stun and kill or you miss and die (go big or go home) One build to rule them all - Well that's going to change soon isn't it
Personally I think that he needs a different passive all together, but in the mean time fixing his casting costs will go a long way.
