Flashable point-and-clicks: Are they intentional? Accidental? Is there a reason? Are they arbitrary?

I've always wondered why Alistar w-q combo has counterplay (flashing out of it or using a movement ability), but Panth W does not. Why can I avoid Fizz Q damage by flashing, but not Yasuo E?

Intentionally coded. Always handpicked as counter option.

Now if all of this makes sense or is reasonable is not on my part to decide.

fizz Q has way more impact than yasuo's E

i don't mind if yasuo E damage is not flashable

i mind if something removing half of my hp is not like hecarim E

Yasuo E is point-click ability affecting single target. You click on target, you dash through that target. Fizz Q is point-click projectile AoE. Yes, it's ridiculous since the only thing AoE about it is W's Passive application and even then that's recent, however it is target-dependent AoE. Just like Lucian's Q, it requires target and it is set based on the target, but affects the area. In Fizz case it affects the area in one way and additionally deals damage to the primary target If they stay in the affected area.

I'd say with Panth it's him being outdated and having outdated point-click behaviour. Some time ago, If you flashed out of Annie W or Cho W while they are in cast animation, it would still affect you. It was outdated behaviour as the cast-time was intended to be "what stops you" not "delay counterplay". The philosophy has changed and the cast-times of such abilities became both "what stops you" and a delay that can be used for counterplay. Thus, several months ago it got fixed.

In the same way, once Riot settles on their philosophy about these things, he'll get updated appropriately.

i always thought it was age of the champs, so mantheon, old taric, teemo was unflashable but now it seems like everyone will follow flashesWarwickMaokai .

Yasuo's e barely does any damage and thus it's OK that it can't be flashed, but it's kind of weird that it doesn't apply to jax q especially when he can empower it with his w

Oh I can explain this actually! It's what happens when you decide to leave half your game in 2011 and you couldn't care less about its consistency.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yasuo's e should be dodgeable, or at least used to be dodgeable. They are both travel a fix distance and will not deal any damage if they are miss. Coded like a skillshot. Meanwhile Panth, Heca, Wukong etc. always jump to the location of their target, coded like a single target spell and they will deal damage even if you flash. Is it bs? yes. It was a bug back then, Rito kept it and called it counterplay LUL.

Fizz q was changed 4~ years ago to be dodgeable, same time he got some 20 nerfs and go gutted so bad he started going top. It used to be undodgeable.

Stuff like Hecarim E being unflashable made him used to be a really good champion, as guaranteeing that much damage is stupid

Why isn't tristana's jump not interrupted before the animation starter and after the spammed the button? That's too forgiving

Fizz Q was a bug that they decided was "cool" and made it a feature. Same shit with Lucian's passive switching targets if the first shot killed the intended target - it used to be a "cool" bug that sometimes happened and they made it a feature.
