I've seen some people with honorable opponent ribbon/badges however you want to call them, and I was wondering, how do you get those?

By being honored with "Honorable Opponent" many times by opponents in the post-game lobby.

The funny thing is you don't. Unless you are popular or something most of the time you will almost never get enough to ever get a banner of any kind and more than likely will lose it after a little while of getting it.
