Can Virus Scanning effect gameplay, and how?

So, I like to run virus scans, to make sure my PC isn't infected. I also like to play League of Legends, but I was wondering if, and how, a virus scan can effect my game play. IE. ping drops, CPU usage tearing at fps, etc. Like an summoner 3 spell on my computer, slowing down my response time. XD

Cpu usage is your only concern during virus scans,therefore you may experience fps drops! [slayer-jinx-wink]
