Am i the only one who thinks they made the game harder for new players to get into?

So while leveling a new account on the EUW server to play with a buddy there i noticed that it feels like much more of a grind to unlock new champions get hardly any BE to unlock high cost champs and ended up buying them with RP. Now im not saying i want things handed to me but when they added the BE system i didn't expect to have to gain a level or wait for keys to open boxes in order to get any BE. I remember when it was IP and you got some after every single game win or lose.

Runes.

The new rune system also takes a bit of time to get into i assumed it would be 100% unlocked to you with a new account but it is not which puts new players at a HUGE disadvantage if playing with a friend. With a new account you are greeted with only presets you can use and don't unlock the ability to use a full run page till i think it was level 20, again it was one of those "didn't think it was gonna be this annoying" when making a new account in EUW.

Overall i feel new players are faced with less options now than they used to have when it came to runes or buying champs (after about level 30) Luckily i own every champ on my NA account but i wish players would atleast get SOME BE after each game because having to play match after match to level to get less BE than you would have IP back in the day in comparison is far more grindy.

Fun fact, you actually get more with the current system then you would with the old one outright until certain levels.

This system is worst for veterans who have been playing the game for years, but for actual new players it is a far better grind and the amounts you get are outright better until lvl 35 where then it becomes luck based if it remains better.

Edit: I can showcase the math for anyone who doesn’t believe me

Right, even if its just a drip, you can watch the level increase. You can see the pace, you can "feel" it. The random rewards, and "burst" of BE are less observable, and feel slower.

They are trying to make money, so a little psychological abuse to make people break down and buy $tuff to make the grind feel less painful was something they couldnt resist.... This is on top of the calculations leaning toward higher levels slowing the BE gain down... though at really high levels you probably dont have anything to buy with BE so not that big an issue I guess.

It's not grindy enough. It's your account which, in theory, should mean that it's the one and ONLY account you'll ever play on. It should take a lot longer than it currently does to access ranked games.

Not just that. Once you get into it the "Low" Elo is full of Smurfs so games are total shit for new players

The old system had total noob trap tier 1 and 2 runes. Any new players who bought those without knowing any better completely wasted their IP. Remember 6800IP rune pages?
