I hate meta

Meta isn't "the way you have to play", just "what works best most of the time". If you don't want to play along with strangers and use the tried-and-true method we know as the "meta", find a team that doesn't stick to it. There are always people like you that find it boring after a while; use the Team Recruitment board and start building a team!

Honestly, would you rather most people follow a good strategy, or have no strategy at all? That would be terrible.

When people say that, I assume is because they always win when they play within the meta. I have never been so wrong.....

Meta doesn't make the game boring. People who will rage and flame you unless you play one of 10 FotM meta champs make the game either incredibly frustrating or boring, depending on whether or not you give in.

I think his issue isn't the fact that meta exists, because every game that has a meta is healthier than ones that don't (in terms of fighting style games that are updated often).

His issue, likely, is that meta is strict af and that if you don't follow it, you get flamed, blamed, reported, etc. and have an overall much less enjoyable experience. This is also an unhealthy method of meta, arguably less healthy than games with no meta whatsoever.

DotA's meta is VERY loose, and while certain heroes are stronger at certain points than others, every single champ is playable at any given time without question. There's also numerous build paths for each hero (looking at you, adcs...) and it helps prevent the game from getting stale faster.

However, the reason I'm here instead of there, is because League's updates are much more frequent. Despite the constant state of horrendous unbalance and the community being absolute garbage, it updates MUCH more often and prevents the game from getting stale really ever. DotA gets stale fast for me, espec considering I played for 2 years before coming here. They don't update as often as league, not even close, and that's their downfall. The upside is that the game is healthier overall, so it's a tradeoff.

Choose between healthy, loose meta that's overall pretty balanced but updates are monthly at best, usually less often, OR unhealthy, unbalanced, strict meta, but updates are bi-weekly. I choose the latter, obviously.
