I just hate Nasus

He's just boring to play against and is aggravating to deal with. I would go into a whole page worth of my problems with him, but I'm frankly too annoyed at the moment after dealing with him again. If anyone has any opinions on him, feel free to sound off below.

personally: he's just fine where he is.... I don't know why a lot of people hate him... Other than the fact that yeah you have to stop him from free-farming which often means Don't Roam. but if your someone like oohh.. idk.. the devil himself.... Nasus is scared of being shot in the face with a dart that puts a cloud of darkness around his face.... so he can't farm. honestly with nasus you just have to counter pick.

Yeah but in blind pick when I just want to play and have fun, there's no way to counter pick Nasus knowingly. And I just don't think he should be rewarded so heavily for farming. Not to mention his pretty ridiculous passive

True, but every player farms. It just doesnt seem fair that he should have a kill button as a reward for farming in addition to 10/15/20% life steal AS A PASSIVE.

Blind pick cannot be used for balance discussion. there are too many champs balanced on the idea that specific champion archetypes can counter pick them.

My biggest problem is Spirit FIre. Why does he get such high damage, AOE DOT harass with a slow? He already has a super intense slow. At least make him use wither to make it effective. Also, why the fuck is it so much damage? If he maxes it first, he can basically force his counters out of lane. Which is really stupid.

Because it costs massive amounts of mana, pushes the lane on a champion that needs to melee range last hit to be relevant later AND is easily gankable, and doesn't do a large amount of damage unless you continue to stand in it.

disregardable2 votes

Initial Damage: 55 / 95 / 135 / 175 / 215

So it'll be rank 4 at level 7 if you max it. So if you're a squishy marksman with a blind, you only HAVE 950 health. Just catching you on the edge of it takes out 18% of your health. Do that 3 times in a row, and you'll still have enough mana to wither and Q for a gank from your jungler, meaning your "counter" has to let you free farm while they back or risk dying.

This is why I lose to Nasus. There is no counterplay to that spirit fire.

FireGeyser1 votes

You can easily walk out of spirit fire for if your a marksman with a dash (Vayne's tumble) you can easily get out of it that way. And a good Nasus wouldn't use Spirit Fire in lane, cause it pushes the lane hence making him an easy gank and him missing out farm. And if your a Marksman you simply have the advantage of range and kite. Try it sometime? Get a QSS if your so irked by him?

I agree with that but I mean I'm sure there are ways that Riot could do SOMETHING for him. Like make his passive not grant as much life steal as Bloodthirster at lvl 16

How would you suggest buffing him if you take away all of the survivability in his kit? He'll no longer be strong at any point of the game if he can't stay in lane whatsoever.

disregardable2 votes

I literally just said that the issue is the initial damage, not the dot...You can't "kite" instant AOE damage. QSS...is fine, I guess. Not really addressing the problem, but it's great for wither, I guess...?

And yes, he does use spirit fire in lane when he's countered, as the people above agreed with me with.

FireGeyser3 votes

I'm starting to think everyone in this post wants Nasus to pounded by the nerf hammer... Or simply doesn't know how to play against him...

Kitten of Evil4 votes

He won't max it first. If he does, his Siphoning Strike cooldown is super long, so he'll have almost no stacks. If he uses it a lot, he will have no mana left to use Siphoning Strike, and it'll push his lane, which is the LAST thing Nasus wants.

galdamesh2 votes

he often will against his harder counter lanes

Kitten of Evil2 votes

That's good then. A Nasus with 150 stacks after laning is no threat at all.

Guineasaurus Rex1 votes

for me the problem with nasus is that all he needs is a little free time to farm up his q which cannot be diminished once he gets his stacks. You either stick someone on him all game to make sure he isn't getting his stacks or end the game QUICK.

Or drag the game out. His late-game is pretty weaksauce.

Basically fighting Nasus involves 1 of 2 things.

  1. Destroy him early and stall him enough that you finish the game before he can recover
  2. Nasus is fed; he has no meaningful range or hard CC and can only run right up to you, so just avoid him and play around him.

It's actually pretty hilarious, Nasus basically has no way to force you to fight him, if you just jump away whenever he's getting close-ish, he basically can't touch you. (unless he's AP nasus in which case... bwuh????)

Raid Boss Morde2 votes

Jump away whenever he's close-ish? Not everyone has mobility. So you're basically saying he counters any non-mobile champ.

Uh, no, that's what I'm saying at all. I'm saying mobility shuts him down hard.

Champions that are immobile tend to be either be very controlly Ashe, very damagy KogMaw, tanky Garen, or some combination of the above Viktor. Immobile champions generally have their own means summoner 4 of fighting item 3035 against the Nasus summoner 3 which they can tap into as well. item 3153 item 3022 item 3009

Nasus makes all champions immobile unless you have a hard escape.

And if you rely on autoattacks for any amount of damage, then have fun not dealing any.

Yea he's immobile, and if he didn't have a snare (oops sorry, 5 second 90% movespeed and attack speed slow with a 6-7 Second cooldown at max CDR.) Then he would not have a means to close the gap, but for gods sake he doesn't need THAT.

He's not OP, he's just 100% anti fun. You don't get to leave your lane, push an advantage, or even kill him because of that lifesteal. And if he's ahead you have absolutely no hope, unless your mid laner (the only one who can deal damage to him through his slow.) can 100-0 him consistently in teamfights. He dictates the pace of a game just by BEING in the game, and that's never been fun.

Any form of CC is "anti-fun." It involves loss of character control, and thus it involves not playing the game for a duration. We can't just take things like this out of the game. If we did that, everyone would be a Zed. Big numbers, "flashy" plays, kill counts out the wazoo because nobody can stop the other Zeds.

CC is essentially a necessary evil.

That being said, you can leave your lane, you can push an advantage, and you can kill him. He isn't a god (remember, they retconned that).

His lifesteal is good, but its the only reason he can even lane or jungle whatsoever. His wither is good, but its the only reason he's relevant late game, and its honestly not as powerful as a straight up stun (remember, stuns are 100% movement speed reduction, 100% attack speed reduction, and 100% ability lock-out). If you have any mobility, or your team has any of their own CC (hint hint), you can still peel away from him with ease when withered.

He's relatively balanced right now. Tipping the boat is a bad idea.

JacctheInsomniac1 votes

Nasus's slow is a greater detriment to a champions DPS than a stun. Stuns cut their damage off completely, then it returns. And Stuns rarely last above 2 seconds. It lasts 5 seconds and halves their attack speed. (Which is a multiplicative stat, so the total damage loss is greater than 50%.) So for 5 seconds you're dealing less than half the damage you deal per second. So basically either you deal 1.) > 50% of your DPS for 5 seconds. OR 2.) 100% of your DPS for 3 Seconds.

Meanwhile champions like Zed and Leblanc aren't even affected by Nasus's slow. They deal damage with abilities and dashes aren't affected by slows

I know how to counter Nasus, the point is his whither doesn't just allow Nasus to reach you. It completely removes you from a fight.

It ramps up. You don't lose that much attack speed instantly. You lose that amount for one second. It doesn't remove you from the fight, only the last 2-3~ seconds are really particularly noteworthy-- roughly the same duration as a stun. It does hurt your DPS, but that is its intention. To reduce the damage of an ADC, which melts him late game anyways. That being said, you say you know how to deal with wither, so it really shouldn't be a problem. A good team won't let Nasus wither an ADC, well. Essentially ever.

JacctheInsomniac1 votes

The DPS reduction still ends up being much greater than a 2 second stun. No its point is to give Nasus, an immobile melee a way to reach his target. Adding the attack speed slow is just 100% unnecessary. Especially because outside of a fight, it completely eliminates any ability to fight back, for anyone who doesn't have a hard escape, or reposition. And to add to that, if he gets ahead at all, that slow is a death sentence. He's a tank with damage tied to a skill that requires 0 Investment, and a metric fuckton of free stats which only work against other champions who are trying just as hard to stay relevant in the league of mobility.

It does not serve its "purpose" as you have defined. It is a DPS limiter. Almost every played champion in the game has mobility to deal with Nasus's wither. For that matter, many champions now have auto-attack resets, also significantly weakening his wither.

Any who do not have that simply aren't played. And for that matter, they dealt with Nasus just fine before the league of mobility, when Nasus was was stronger than he was now.

He needs wither. He needs everything in his kit.

Why pick freakin Nasus when I can pick Sej? Hard CC, damage, tankiness, doesnt need to stack mana and CDR to be remotely useful. Or Amumu? Or really any tank with %HP damage that means they, too, can ignore building damage and still do shit-tons, and in-fact they don't even have to farm for it, they just get it for leveling their skill.

Champion Skin1 votes

Or why pick Nasus when you can pick Tryndamere Tryndamere has an easier time actually using the damage he has Tryndamere can tank the enemy team for 5+ seconds (which is probably longer then what Nasus can survive late game) Tryndamere is better at split pushing... or at least getting away should he be collapsed on.. And Tryndamere doesn't need to sit and farm to get his damage.. he works just as well with the gold he gets from kills/assists as he does with minions.... while Nasus damage kind of requires him to sit and farm minions..

Tryndamere does more damage, has an AoE 80 AD reduction (screw your ADC, thats more than half of their damage too) that can slow, has a lowish-CD gapcloser on top of that slow, and tanks significantly better because he lives for 5 seconds at all points of the game, whereas tanks can last as low as 2-3 seconds late game

He legit does better at Nasus's job lol

Also, such a bad early game he can be shoved out of lane by as soon as the third minion wave because he actually just can't fight back and is melee, and mana problems so fierce that he OOMs even after getting a Sheen item AND Frozen Heart after just a handful of spells.

His passive is the only thing that allows him to even lane or jungle period, and his Q is the only reason he has any kind of scaling. ADC's have crit to scale. Mages have deathcap and AP scalings. Assassins have armor-pen stacking and generally some sorta steroid. Tanks have boatloads of CC and %HP damage on basic abilities. Nasus has his Q and Wither.

Plus, Nasus is one of the few champions in the game, that if he is denied, loses pretty heavily two-fold (despite what everyone cries about, where he turns into this monster if he's left alone after losing lane. Hint hint, if you let any champion free-farm they get obnoxiously strong, you gave away your lead like a baddie)

Nasus needs items, and Nasus needs Q stacks. If you deny him minions, he loses two-fold. He doesn't have the gold he needs to function, and he doesn't have any damage and is permanently behind in that regard (he can't magically make more minions to farm show up).

Champion Skin1 votes

Well Nasus doesn't go OOM that easily... if you let him free farm and he only uses Q

Though if Nasus is forced to use his W and E to fight back the aggression of his lane opponent then he will quickly run out of mana... so yeah... he will usually run into mana problems

Because these champions aren't tanks with infinitely scaling stats and the ability to remove a Carry from a fight for 5 seconds.

"Any who do not have that simply aren't played. And for that matter, they dealt with Nasus just fine before the league of mobility, when Nasus was was stronger than he was now."

What fucking part of this sentence do you honestly believe is okay?! If a champion doesn't have the tools to deal with a Nasus's 5 second snare then they shouldn't be played. These champions never dealt with Nasus "just fine." They got just as fucked by him then as now. Except now they're being fucked by literally everybody else.

Nasus gets 20% Lifesteal and Infinite AD for existing.

If a champion doesn't have tools to deal with Nasus, THEY ARE ALREADY NOT PLAYED IN THE CURRENT GAME, NASUS OR NOT. Reading comprehension please.

I'm not going to bother arguing with you because you seem to be convinced that Nasus is the end-all-be-all of OP monstrosities when he's actually pretty balanced at the moment, and any change whatsoever is going to be for the worse. Everything has been explained to you in detail, there has been a link to HateDaddy's thread that does an even better job, and yet you're still frothing at the mouth screaming "BUHBUHBUH FREESTATS WTF OP. NERF AGAIN. THE OLD CHAMPS COULD HANDLE HIM WHEN HE WAS TWICE AS STRONG AS HE IS NOW, BUT HE'S OP AND NOW THEY SUDDENLY CANT ANYMORE BECAUSE I SAY SO"

I don't think he would be... You can't take things out of a relatively balanced champion's kit and not compensate them pretty significantly. He'd be pretty terrible unless they decided to replace what he lost with a hard-CC. Every other tank has hard CC, he has a ramping slow (goes from 35% to 95%) and a similarly ramping (17% to 47.5%) attack speed slow. Honestly if you nerfed wither, he'd be useless as a champion. He'd have no way to mitigate damage, and he'd have no way to catch anyone or CC anyone meaningfully.

Champion Skin2 votes

Actually Nasus is more of a fighter/bruiser then a tank... While yes even if Nasus is really farmed... if he gets kited in teamfights he pretty much turns into a bad tank with meh tank steroids and no initiation and mediocre CC (only a single target slow.. most other tank have some powerful AoE CC) Since Nasus damage is irrelevant if he doesn't get to use it

Counterplaying Nasus is easy: just harass him when he goes in to last-hit with Q. Better yet, if you have a way to make him miss his Q (a blind, a stun, shielding the minion he's hitting, or a Shen taunt) it's completely wasted. Champions who destroy him include: Vlad, Shen, Taric, Quinn, Teemo, Ryze... I'd think Darius too, since he just destroys almost every melee champion early,

Also don't push your lane. Nasus LOVES to farm under his tower.

femmé1 votes

he's not op because you are able to make a nasus cry in a corner for picking nasus. But the fact that he changes toplane into a babysitting lane where both you and the jungle have to waste time in that lane is why people hate him even if they're destroying him in lane. The biggest problem is that his passive allows him to get bullied hardcore but as long as you don't get tower dove, you can heal back from the wave at your tower so it's really hard to stop nasus instead of delaying him, also his ult will stop an early tower dive and possibly get him a kill.

Champion Skin2 votes

Even if you don't crush nasus in lane... as long as you have a decent team composition with some CC and peel... then in teamfights and Nasus often ends up as a tank with mediocre CC and no initiation (as Nasus damage doesn't matter much if he doesn't get to anyone)

Though Nasus is pretty good at split pushing and 1v1 (Though he usually isn't so good at getting away if caught in a tight spot... though it usually takes a while to kill him so be careful you don't give the enemy team objectives or important things while you send people after Nasus)
