Let's talk Poppy

When I'm looking at champions that are viable a lot of things go into mind, the biggest of which is what kind of meta the game is in right now and what kind of champions are being played repeatedly. In this meta respectively it's a tank focused team fight compositions that usually take lead whether in LCS or solo que at the moment even though that is falling off a small bit with cinderhulk nerfs a few patches ago. And as a player trying to figure out what's good I experiment and find myself playing champions that are usually ignored. Champs like Galio , TwistedFate , Shen , Yorick ,Skarner and I usually get a quick reminder why they aren't played as often in their gameplay. But one champion thought threw me off was, you guessed it, poppy. If anyone remembers a little while ago I believe UOL took her out for a spin which was the first time she was played competitively. What I've seen she is strong in certain regards like any champ but she never really thrived in any sort of meta. I thought what would make her a little bit stronger, give her a little push to make it into the meta as a reasonable pick. Her kit has everything that is needed, tankyness with built in armor and damage reduction, a terain stun, a speed up, AN ABILITY WITH PERCENTAGE HEALTH DAMAGE, and a ult that is very versatile and team fight orientated. Everything's there until i look close enough to see that her Q has a maximum damage that makes it completely trash compared to Gnar , Gragas , or even Sejuani after nerfs. I think if they remove the max damage caps on her q then she'll actually see some light on summoner's rift every now and again. I think if her percentage health damage of her Q gets brought into line with everyone else's then you'll see her played as she well should be along with other champs i said above.

hopefully this helps shed light on the subject and then people know she still exists (lol), and to any riot employees that they would consider it and please give me your opinion down below.

Thank You for reading, Poppy

I'm sorry dude, but there is a problem with your suggestion.

and to any riot employees that they would consider it.

They won't. It's a fine idea to consider for how to get Poppy some play time but the admittedly rather cynical TL;DR of the Poppy situation is: Riot does not want to balance Poppy. They are fine with the situation of Poppy languishing in the Unplayed Tier and they refuse to buff her. She's the Sword of the Divine of champions. Well, except Riot does not remove champions. There is only one situation where Riot will make changes to Poppy; They have gone on the record of saying that if anyone ever figures out a way to make Poppy playable, they will nerf her into the Stone Age. They are not going to do anything to Poppy, they are only going to wait for when her rework eventually comes up (which was given to someone who they hired for it, but she wasn't even going for game design, she was applying to Legal. <s> So I'm just waiting with bated breath for that one. </s>)

Sorry for being such a downer.

shes hard to give buffs because she has such a toxic ultimate. She falls prey to "tryndamere syndrome"

Rico Nasty6/22/2015, 10:15:40 PM1 votes

..are you suggesting Poppy buffs? She is one of the most cancerous champions rn

theragingnerd6/22/2015, 8:48:50 PM1 votes

riots never gonna help her shes op but they don't do shit nabout it

I feel like there is not much point in discussing her until the rework comes out. Riot doesn't want to buff her into viability with her current ult because they think it would be insanely toxic (and they're probably right). So any meaningful discussion of her has to be a rework-level change that replaces her ult, and Riot isn't ever going to adopt someone's rework from the forums completely (they don't even adopt their own people's ideas completely, they test and change them for months before they even hit PBE, let alone live).

The %HP damage cap is 375. At 8% of max health, you would need the enemy to have 4687 HP to reach that cap.

Poppy's primary target is squishies, no squishy will have 4687 HP. Hell even a lot of tanks won't build that much health.

her q is an insane ability so don't cal it trash. it basically make her able to build and and triforce and nuke for 1000 magic damage every q if she builds ie triforce. her kit steroids just make her scale insanely hard. har utlitmate is hands down the strongest ability in game. 40 damage increase and invurnablity to everyone but one target just insane.. if they ever buffed her she would be perm banned. she is not even that bad at the moment
