Jungle Items
with the new Ap jungle item a lot of people have mixed feelings about Runeglavie which is replacing magus. (im not giving the exact stats of the item so look it up if you want to know exactly what it does). I, as a person who played diana a lot mainly in the jungle despite when warrior and then cinderhulk calmed their dominance, see yes this is going to help SOME Ap junglers who:
A. have mana issues B. who spam abilities in the jungle to clear C. who don't have the best AOE clears
Granted the pure AP it gives is very low compared to lichbane. Champs that require pure AP (aka fiddle) or prefer more AP for burst like most AP junglers which are assassins or for those who dont benefit on the AOE clear like diana or nidalee. So over all I like the item but the 40 AP is very under whelming compared to lichbane and I know that if it was better top laners would use it like cinderhulk. So maybe if it was 60 AP and had better scaling damage on the passive I would be happier about it but I'll give the item time to settle down a little on the live servers first.
I like what riot is doing with their catchy quote of 'champion diversity' by looking at the jungle but I think as jungle items go having four of them isn't very diverse. Think about it like this:
As a mid laner, lets use diana as an example, you have a lot of options of items to buy and transition into as the game progresses. If I am ahead in mid lane up maybe one or two kills, I may buy a needlessly large rod and turn it into a luden's or a rabidon's. If things are ok in lane and I already have a needlessly large rod then i might go into an hourglass because so and so are fed or if I need defense. And if things are really going bad geting an abyssal is usually on my mind, throwing out the stronger AP items over solid defenses.
I think the same should go with jungle items. Since every game is different you should have different VIABLE choices as far as items are concerned. Having 2 or 3 of each 'type' of stat would force players to make decisions about what they are building much like someone in a lane has to do. Your fed and want more damage buy something like Magus with pure AP and CDR, need help with jungle clears or behind and want sustained damage over burst, get Runeglaive. The same could go with the warrior, maybe having a black clever type item and a higher flat damage to chose from. Having to chose between max health and resistances for tanky jungle enchants. Throw in active effects or items that enforce team fighting or spilt pushing or another certain type of play style so there is a lot of diversity.
I want to hear what you guys think and your opinions about the state of the jungle with the new Runeglaive and if you guy like what I'm going at.
Thank you for reading :)
