WTF is up with this Victor Nerf?

Just why? It makes no sense at all. Why are you trying to make him another Q bot? People play him for the laser, not the Q. Ever sense Pre-season Riot has been ether really good or really really bad about balancing and its shit like this that pisses players off. I don't even play mid that much and I know this is going to be painful to deal with.

Stop trying to pigeon hole champions into a certain play style if their kit gives players some flexibility that you don't like. Vicktor isnt even oppressive right now.

Oh you didn't get the memo? Well these Viktor nerfs are a big one of these: https://media.giphy.com/media/ytwDCveyFztWxY30ac/giphy.gif

Courtesy of the balance team.

another viktor post for riot to remove, dunno why but they really hate hearing how much no one wants the vik changes.

Riot are a bunch of fat idiots who don't listen to the community for sh*t. Had to censor part of that so people don't get triggered.

Riot just hates burst mages. And wants more long drawn out team fights for their shows. It is the same reason tanky dps is favored by Riot.

To bandaid the appearance of tankie dps getting two strong we have a ADC carry; if taken out by say a mage looks bad for Riot.

The mage nerf is coming.

Riot hasn't stuck to the theme of DoTa. There was plenty of burst damage in DoTa. Riot thinks they are improving the game but take it from a beta player they are just messing up.

Only a matter of time until this game gets replaced by a new mainstream game like Overwatch or Battleborn.

Urf Mode had some of the lowest queue times and the highest population. But if you look at Riots last year review of URF at the end they said it was losing its fan base in two days. That was bull and they lied. The queue were just as low for the entire time it was available last year.

It is like Riot just doesn't want to admit that their balancing team saying something like mages are "kiting for days" isn't true and doesn't really have a clue about the game. But it all started back in the days of Morello really. This balancing team is only his protege following his misdirection.

The cherry on top is how silent they're being. No Rioter has said anything about this. Oh, no one likes these changes? Well too bad! Deal with it!

Oh, you don't like Lee Sin changes? We'll reverse that right away! We're the GOOD gaming company!

The hypocrisy of this whole thing is awful. No one likes the Viktor changes, and Riot doesn't care

I for one will enjoy not being burst for a huge chunk of my health due a single laser, or having an ult dropped on me and kill me like he is annie

Honestly, right now viktor plays more like annie with more control since he has more range, an denial area stun, better moveable ult, and a shield. From this point of view, changing viktor is reasonable. If you like viktor's current play style, just play Annie instead. You will have a similar experience. Or even Veiger. Viktor is not meant to be a burst mage, and they are changing that.

tl;dr Viktor =/= Annie Veigar

They aren't making him a Q bot, they are adding power into the reliable part of his kit to make up for the unreliability they added to rest (in exchange for more raw power).

They are moving him away from raw burst to zone control/teamfight. His new E and ult will hit like a truck when they land, which will require lockdown

According to Riot's official statement, Viktor was too much of a "one man show". They didn't like that Viktor could handle himself independently from his team. To put it simply, they want interaction on a scale beyond burst and zone control.

I mean, I *personally find VIktor's zone denial to be INCREDIBLY satisfying. But they consider it "flat:"

Viktor

What we’re happy with:

  • ‘Glorious Evolution’ thematic and Hex Core feel unique
  • Multiple cast paradigms make playing Viktor different from other mages

What we’re less happy with:

  • Viktor’s primary contributions to his team are overwhelmingly about getting damage off quickly, lending itself to a flat experience overall.

What we hope to see coming out of the update:

  • Viktor provides a team unique ways to play around enabling his huge teamfight potential rather than feeling like a one-man show

Vik is being picked fairly commonly in professional play. The general assumption is that burst-mages are boring to watch (WHERE MY DASHES @?!). You can see the ult's burst damage being switched out to heavily favour his DoT effect, for example.

But Viktor could be more than a burst mage. He could have taken this mage update in stride, becoming something special. I mean, what if the team responsible for updating Viktor had decided AGAINST destroying the Machine Herald's current identity? What if Riot had chosen to, instead, focus on updating him to be more team-oriented? To add on to the identity he already has?

Vikt used to have 3 augments. Each augment would do something different - upgrading a specific ability with additional functions AND providing unique stats. Unfortunately, these augments were weak - and so they were combined into the one hex core when Viktor got his first big update.

Riot has said that they like Viktor's augment. They like the theme. So why not add onto the theme and give him his two old augments BACK? A tanky augment for peel potential and top-laning; A support augment for setting up team plays and aiding the Marksman; And - of course - the death augment he has now, for bursting down enemy mid laners. Obviously, he'd only be allowed to pick one - but it would make him more than a burst mage.

Riot doesn't NEED to destroy a champion just to fit him in a mould. Viktor has a precedent - he used to be built to function in every lane. We could still go back to that design!

I mean, let's face it, Vik is all about designs.

I've made a thread pitching this very idea, and support would be greatly appreciated if anyone else there feels this could be a good direction to go.

In my personal and most gracious opinion, it's high time Viktor got his 2 augments back.

Viktor is my favorite mid laner by far, has been since before he was "popular" or meta.

This update is so bad that I would rather they just left him the hell alone entirely.

Fortunately in today's PBE cycle the most retarded changes got tweaked. Delay on lazor lowered 1.25s->1s and missile speed 780->1200 what is more than 50% faster. Sure, 1 second delay on Aftershock is still a lot but due to how goddamn fast it is now, at max range it is basically equal to the current live servers version. It's so fast that dodging the initial part is literally impossible now. Given that Aftershock also deals more damage now, I can say it's fair.

The Q also got tweaked a bit - missile now deals less damage in favor of empowered AA dealing more - what is actually pretty nice given that we asked the person in charge of Vik's rework for such change.

Overall, after toying with PBE a bit, today's changes left me pretty optimistic. Previous instance was literally unplayable, now we're good.

A change from **Ricklessabandon **that

  • makes a champion a Q bot
  • pidgeon holes a champion's playstyle and takes out flexibility
  • superficially looks like a buff

Oh boy, it's 5.10 Karma all over again. Am I supposed to be happy, because now Victor players can relate to us Karma mains, or am I supposed to be sad that this had to happen to yet another perfectly fine champion?

I think I feel sadpy.

I really liked Vik back when his HexTechs gave efficient levels of AP for there 1000GP cost all the way up the board. Ever since they made the first two kinda low key for there cost he's been getting kicked in the ball bearings every time Riot looks at him.

Webber884/25/2016, 11:28:03 AM1 votes

But they're also buffing his laser by removing that dmg reduction if they were originally hit

Does anyone actually play Victor though?

Viktor is the new Kha'Zix.
