[NEW ITEM CONCEPT] - The Silversilk Cloak. FINALLY, something besides Zhyona's for immobile mages!
Hello everyone! Okay so I'm friends with numerous mid-laners, and many are sick of Zhyona's being their only option to defend themselves against the many threats that lurk in the League of Legends champion roster. Especially on immobile AP casters. So when you Zhyona's you sit there briefly waiting for your cooldowns. Most of the time, it seems, you're really briefly waiting to die, while they enemy gets their cooldowns back, and gather around your soon exposed booty. You can argue that your team can also gather around your booty, but lets be honest. We can't really trust our random teammates as much as we'd like to. Personally, I know I'm tired of having limited defensive options against the numerous AD champions and/or Assassins that live in the mid lane now-a-days. Defensive options consisting of; Hourglass, Zhyona's, and... wait for it, Zhyona's Hourglass...
The following items were designed to help add some additional options for mages in the mid lane, in particular, immobile AP casters.
NEW ITEM - [Spirit Cloth] - 1200g (Gold efficiency without passive -> 87.7% / with passive approximately -> 125.4%)
Amplifying Tomb + Cloth Armor + 465g
30 AP 20 Armor
- Unique Passive - Spirit's Retreat : Upon taking a total of 60% of your health within 4 seconds, you gain a burst of movement speed (40%) that decays over 2 seconds. (60 second cooldown).
NEW ITEM - [Silversilk Cloak] - 3700g (Gold efficiency without passives or actives -> 87.7% / with passives and actives approx. -> 122.8%)
Spirit Cloth + Aether Wisp + Quicksilver Sash + 350g
70 AP 10% Movement Speed 35 Armor 35 Magic Resist
-
Unique Passive - Spirit's Retreat : Upon taking a total of 60% of your health within 4 seconds, you gain a burst of movement speed (40%) that decays over 2 seconds. (60 second cooldown).
-
Unique Active - Quicksilver : Removes all crowd control debuffs. (120 second cooldown).
Okay so now that you've read it, it's time to talk about the details, my thoughts and reasoning. [slayer-jinx-wink]
- [Spirit Cloth] -- This item is intended to be an additional defensive option against AD mid laners (particularly assassins) in the early to mid game. It was designed to be the counterpart of Seekers Armguard, built to help escape all-ins and jungle ganks but not to resist harass in lane. The passive was taken and balanced using Stormraider's Surge as a template. The Spirit Cloth's passive isn't as beneficial for inherently mobile mid laners as Seekers Armguard. There's not much more to say about this item, so lets move onto the next item.
- [Silversilk Cloak] -- Dubbed the QSS for mages, and that's exactly what it is. It's 100 gold more expensive than the Mercurial Scimitar, however the gold efficiency between the two remains very even. The idea is to pick between the Cloak or Zhyona's, thus both are very good in different situations and for different champions. Not abusable by tanks, or ADC's. The movement speed further supports immobile AP casters. The armor and magic resist help round the item out for late game, without giving counterproductively high defensive stats. The Quicksilver active's cooldown is increased by 30 seconds to add longer states of vulnerability, and doesn't include the give a movement speed boost (for obvious reasons). This item is clearly designed for late game, and the price reflects that. The itemization makes it decent as a 3rd item, picking up the Spirit Cloth component early in game.
Alright, so give me your thoughts. I'd like to see how you all think of these items, I spent a lot of time designing them. I've been constantly balance checking and thinking of how it may be abused, but in it's current form I can't think of any. I know the new banshee's veil changes currently on the PBE might simulate the QSS effect for immobile AP casters, however this item is directed more toward surviving assassins, not to survive getting picked, which isn't always the same thing. Other variations of the Silversilk Cloak removes the Spirit Cloth component and replaces it with Seekers Armguard. I personally don't like that variation as much since it defeats the point of adding a second EARLY game option to surviving the laning phase. Also I'm not complaining in the first part of the thread, I understand the way the game is, and I play with what we have. But it would be really nice to have more to choose from! ^-^
Anyway, let me know what you guys think!
